Am looking at purchasing a Gaastra phoenix 17.5m 2004, have never owned a Gaastra kite before, anyone out there own one, or have previously owned one?
What did you think of it? I hear they have issues about build quality? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a full quiver of gaasra's - the force, not the phoenix. Much prefer them to the Slingshots I used to ride. And the quality is better than the slingshots - the stitching on my slingshots was splitting after 12 months, whereas these are 12 months old now, but used much, much more and still look great.

Nevcer used a phoenix, so don't know how they fly. Try before you buy.

If it is the right price get it .I have not ridden one but heard that they are the best of the large kites .i have a Gaastra Vision and love it the build quality is far better than any other brand i have owned ( IMO ) and it looks brand new after one seasson which is more than i can say for my Cab Co2 .
Do a search in the kite forum for big kites i remember some good reviews about the Phoenix in it
