Most airlines operating out of Perth to Bali are of the LCC types (AirAsia, Jetstar and even though not LC anymore, Virgin). These airlines have between zero and 22 kg allowance for baggage depending on what fare you pay. After 22kg they charge excess at ripoff rates.

I believe the only 'Legacy' carrier out of Perth to Bali is Garuda. When I travel to Bali for diving, I divvy up my dive gear and personal belongings between check in and carry on. I think Garuda allows 30kg from memory.

ship your kite gear to melbourne/sydney via courier & just take a surfboard to bali & 1 large kite. no point dragging a quiver to indo- you won't be using small kites or a twintip. in fact i doubt you'll be doing any kiting mid feb, but i guess you never know

That's way to much.. Would be cheaper to carry it around with me...

I flew Jetstar to Bali once... Never again. By the time we got there (2.5 hours) half the plane were bluing with each other. When we disembarked, to separate people stormed off across the apron to get on another flight home. They wanted nothing to do with their partners.

Will never fly them again by choice..

As for the OPs question, pack smartly and you should be right with 30kgs.,

I have travelled to Bali the last few years, usually stay a month or so and take a ship load of kit, don't book any normal check in luggage just paid I think it was $50 each way last year for 40kg of sporting goods, booked when I booked my tickets.

Fairly sure there weight limit per bag is 30kg.

In my 6'4 coffin bag I have about 25kg of stuff, 5'9 kitesurf board, 6'4 surfboard, 2 kites, bar and lines, harness, towel, spare fins, sup paddle, clothes etc, then my 9'2 sup in another board bag with a bit of padding etc it comes in at just under 15kg.

Computer, camera's etc travel with me in my carry on bag.

Wouldn't expect hardly any wind in mid February though.

BTW that was Air Asia.
