Went to a new optometrist today who recommended i try a new eye treatment called ortho-k. Basically it is a hard lens contact that you wear at night which reshapes your eye while you sleep. in the morning you take it off and have 20/20 vision for around 72 hrs until your eye returna to its original shape. It sounds a bit too good to.be true. Was wondering if anyone on here has tried it?

No, not heard of this before. I wear contacts surfing/suping. If that ortho-k treatment is reality, what would be the downsides? High eye pressure, pain?

It is apparently relatively popular and has been around for a while, which is surprising to me. downsides are the price (around $1300 before insurance) and it can be uncomfortable at first as the lenses are rigid. Upside is it stops your vision from worsening and of course you dont have to wear contacts during the day which is a massive plus if your like me and get sore eyes. W e ith a mild prescription you only need to wear them every 2nd night. I think im going to try this treatment but woukd be great to hear anyones experiences?

A mate used them years ago. He was happy with the result. He ended up only wearing one lens so that he had good distance vision in one eye and good close up vision in the other. He is too wimpy to get laser correction and his prescription is not so strong that it is a major concern for him.
I had laser eye surgery in July 1995. It is the best thing I have ever done. I was concerned about the $4000 price tag before, but after I would gladly pay 10 times the price.
I was very short sighted, but also had a stable prescription. Even 16 years later I have better than 20:20 vision.
My surgery was PRK. It is a little more extreme than lasik (in that it took a couple of days to be able to see), but less invasive.
