Can i use polyester catalyst with epoxy resin to fix a few dings. If not, where is the best place to purchase epoxy catalyst in the Torquay/Geelong zone?

As said, NO
Epoxy is completely different to polyester, and the term "catalyst" isn't used.

Every epoxy resin is different, the part a part b ratios I've used can vary form 1:1 to 5:1, and they can be quite critical. You need to get the right stuff and mix to the recommended ratios or it won't set properly.

Totally agree as we develop epoxy resins and you would have massive issues if you try to repair this way!
we have a repair kit that gives you 750mls of resin which for repairs will last you ages.

need to find what resin brand it is as most epoxies have slight differences in their system so this will affect the chemical reaction if you just use "any epoxy hardener".
