For the second time in 3 years we have been ripped off,, the last time was our fault ,, left the back door open and went upstairs for adult fun -,,,, over 7 grands worth of goodies and cash,, insurance covered about 2 grand,, this time , last thursday night they jumped the fence where there is an empty block of land and took all my work tools from my trailor, b,,st..rds, didnt know till I was at work,,apart from the tools and lost time on site I'm getting p.ssed of with not being able to stop these low life from doing this to me and others .
Anyone got any ideas on sensor type external alarms that will let me know when these f..wits enter my property,,, the house is secure no problems there now, too many seriously locked doors and a nice little (45kg) pittbull to greet them if they want to try their luck ,, I just want to know when they are coming to visit so I can go and reverse the polarity and sneek up on them and just have a nice CHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
something that would make a noise in my room upstairs and let me know they are visiting would be really nice ,,,, any ideas???

Get a tee-ball bat - small enough to easily swing around in confined spaces yet still solid enough to do serious damage. If you catch the lowlife just remember after you've finished with the Tee-Ball bat :)))) to put one of your kitchen knives in his hand - then no problem with using like force.

Get an electric fence thingy and hook it up to the trailer each night, 20000V should give you a bit of a warning when someone decides to have a play

Someone I know went and bought those laser light jobbies & hooked them up to a piezo speaker in the house.
The laser work like a tripwire .. they shine a beam across the yard to a reflector on the other side. When the beam is broken (by someone walking through it), the buzzer goes off inside the house (or could turn a whole bunch of floodlights & webcams on)

I propose the following:
- A laser trip wire (as in Laurie's post)
- When the tripwire activates it turns on the sprinkler system
- 1 second later it also switches on power to (the now very wet) extension cord sitting in the back yard

Recent email from my Mum:
Hello
We had a fun night
At 12.30 I we heard a “bump”, we went to the kitchen to check if a boat had hit the jetty.
Then a guy ran past the kitchen window, I called out stop thief (good one Mum), turned on the outside lights on and tried to go back to sleep.
Five minutes later, another “bump” this time in the front garden, another guy is trying to break into Dad’s hire car (truck broken) I banged on the front window (we have done this before with the Hi Ace), Dad rang 000….
...Then the FUN begins.
These robbers had smashed into the Leagues Club down street and been chased by the police across the car park (we did not know this), SO…. a tactical response team (10 guys) dress in black with guns, arrive in 30 seconds in 3 cars to our front gate, swarm all over with torches (in the pouring rain) looking for these two (or more) guys trapped in our yard.
After 30 minutes the police decide they must have jumped in the canal and swum away ( like a previous time). The police know who they are and told us their name.
I wonder….. do we have the record for the most break and entry in our suburb?

I find all this a little ironic since their neighbour for five years turned out to be Australia's most wanted armoured car holder-upper. Such a nice old guy too. Second time "SWAT teams" have swarmed their house.

Mag Light, cannot be considired as a concealed weapon (most other things are considered concealed wepaons) nice and heavy to "place" anywhere on the body to inflict or render a person helpless.

i'VE STRUNG FISHING LINE ACROSS MY BACK FENCE AND ATTACHED ABOUT THIRTY OR FOURTY TREBLE HOOKS TO IT ON VARIOUS LENGTHS OF LINE.
(sh!t damn caps lock)sorry for yelling.
This has worked on one or two poor idiots already.
I had thought of using steel trace and an electric fence unit, but that would be going too far......... but i'd love to see it!!! Burn Mutha ****a Burn

I knew a guy that put a security system in his trailer that was connected to the house alarm.
But did rely on a cable to the house, it had a quick release plug that also went off if removed when the alarm was on.

I can see one problem with the trip laser light if its out doors(outdoors being your early warning area) CATS tripping it.
You will sound asleep and a cat sets your alarm of.
If you have it indoors, its to late because the burglar is already inside when the alarm sounds.

Instead of a tripwire, use an infrared sensor. They can be tuned so the cats don't set them off.
On trip, have it set off both an alarm and a strobe. Really screws with your night vision.
(Unlike police car flashy lights, which I observed one night, do not screw with your night vision after looking at them)
