geoff I think 7 weeks is pushing it.
My op was pretty much just a cleanup (bone shave) and the ligaments were all still pretty much in tact. After 7 weeks of physio I was using it normally for normal day to day things but no way would I be able to paddle.
However you would probably kite no probs if careful
Then again, my physio said he has seen olympic kayaker be out paddling in 6 weeks so it can be done if you were mega fit to start with anyway

I had mine done in early November. I could've been paddling by Christmas but summer was unbelievably flat as you're aware. I did go swimming incl. bodysurfing and no problem. Now it's fine. Mine was also bone shaving, general cleanup w/ no tissue damage.

I had one cleanup...after coming out the anesthetic, and I fought as i went
under the surgeon not Dr, but a Mr said to me, well it went OK but...
unfortunately I have had to take quite a bit more bone than i would normally
like to do..... explains why its not real effectively strong although it hangs
well and all people think me normal. that's one side
On the other side its a complete rebuild with an artificial implant ball and the
so called bucket has also been replaced. The bucket recieves the ball. It
cannot be decided before the op, that this may be the go. this one hangs
OK too but i am thankful for power steering and that will get tiring around
the city.
When i first lined up for the total, first case in the morning, I had had a bad
night, so at 6am i had my pre op shower, got dressed and scarpered back
400k's to the bush. Had to go back and apologize and grovel to be put back
on the elective surgery list for another one year wait. I have had that one for
8+years am sorta dreading the replacement on the horizon. Use by date is
around 10 years. However the real outcome for me has been the decrease in
pain that I was suffering from 10+ down to around 3 and sometimes a little
more if i overdo it. Its a good result really, some countrys cant do it so i think
myself very lucky. The op is not really a problem, the only bad thing I have
heard is infection, and no one needs or wants that.
