As regards to whales beaching themselves last week, I wonder where the australian navy has their subs? Were they anywhere in the vicinity?
Has there been any recorded beaching of whales or dolphins before the 1940's

Quick google search shows there were beachings before the advent of the sub.
But i would imagine the frequency of beachings has increased.

Makes you wonder though why more dolphins don't do the same.

I heard ugly divers are making whales beach themselves... I think we should send down bikini clad babes to fix this issue...

Could it be natural evolution happening before our eyes?....some fish did it thousands of years ago, came from the water to live on the land and maybe the whales are trying to evolve....
But are the "greenies" that keep pushing them back in the water stopping evolution???
Just wait untill the sharks try it also !!!!

I heard several times that the navy said there was no activity in the region at the time the whales beached themselves.
Looks like it is something that is maybe meant to happen? Maybe the rescuers are doing the wrong thing? (by trying to do what would seem to be the right thing)

It does make you wonder, when the whales beach themselves it's kinda like cats when they are really sick they go away to die.

Very sad.

Hmm...
for the last 10 years or so..(this is the time I have taken notice)
I have noticed that we have an earth quake..
and within days we have beached whales etc:-
This happens "every time"
...so is this just a coincidence ?
am I (and now my family) the only one's that have noticed this?

Submarines tend just to sit around listening rather than using sonar in away a whale use sonar to navigate!!

Therefore I think it unlikely subs are to blame!

I blame fish finders on fishing boats that put out sonar pulses like dolphines use to find fish !!

This is more likly to confuse the hell out of them!!!!!!

They do-in Japan. But I think its to do with the boats, clubs and rifles they use to round them up.

What he said. Subs are very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, quiet. SO quiet in fact that they occasionally bumb into each other:

Face it, wales are just weird.

Yes I know Evilpanda..
but not what I meant..and of course I am probably wrong!
It has to be an earthquake worth mentioning on the Tv or radio..
one day I will sit down and look into it..
and when that day comes..some one else will come up with the right answer..
