hay everybody.this may sound like a stupid question but iam just startin and would like some advise.iam 6foot 2inch tall and weigh 108 kilos and was wondering what size board would be good for me as a beginner.nothin flashy just yet till i get down pat.any words of wisdom out there

You want something wide, stable and bouyant! Your hardest task whilst learning is paddling and actually catching a wave, so go for something with plenty of thickness. Something at least a foot longer than you is a rough starting point. A person is selling a mini-mal on this site for $449. Bargin! Sounds almost ideal.
Do yourself a huge favour, have a one or two hour lesson. It will advance your skills by about 3 months instantly!!
Also, learn the rules!
P.S. Watch out for flying jet-ski's!

good advise,theres a pro surfer does lessons on the beach where i live, might look in to that,not sure what u mean by learn the rules except "not droping in on others" ,but i thought its all about enjoying the waves.thanks for the top input.happy waves

yea what ya want is a mal or a 'foamie' sunset do an awesome beginners to intermediate board its soft foam on the outside with a fibreglas core there pretty sic i learnt on one and now im surfin main break down at margos when i get the chance after that depends where you live get a fish or a mini mal or both they're awesome or if you want the best surf on a shortboard with an easy paddle do what i did get a custom made board with a wider nose on the front that way paddlings easy and you can still whip and its 7'1 groovy
