From the ABC news desk

The Department of Environment and Conservation is investigating the deaths of more than 140 sea gulls at Woodman Point, 10 kilometres south of Fremantle.

The Department says preliminary autopsies have not revealed any obvious cause of death and there is no evidence of other birds or fish dying in the area.

It says at this stage there is no threat to human health.

What have you guys been doing over there!

The problem might not even be at Woodman Point.
The seagulls fly inland every day to feast at the rubbish dumps and then fly back to the ocean in the mornings for their daily blutions.
So it might be that a few of them copped a prawn that was a bit 'off' or something. Or perhaps just a bad olive?

We were there on Monday at Woodman Point when this happened..we were stagged to find seagulls dead in the water...it was a weired thing to see..there were plenty of live seagulls and shaggs and pelicans..so I suppose it will be a mistery till we find out...I am not going to guess..I would probably be wrong

I haven’t heard anything yet but I would almost bet my left nut it was a fisho who got sick of his bait being stolen. I recon it went something like this - few bucks of hot chips sprinkled with cooking soda, and left for the gull’s. It only takes a tiny bit of this stuff to kill a bird in minutes hey!
