my worst day in life.....sailed south beach 10 years ago, 20 knots of wind, cold october front.

noticed outhaul rope was getting a bit worn, thought it would be right.

half hour into sail, around 1500 metres out, rope tore in two, leaving me with nothing to tie outhaul with.

i sat on board and paddled back.

30 mins later and three quarters way back i felt my body go real strange.

i knew i had to get to shore asap, i jumped in water, held the nose of board and swam as fast as i could.

10 mins later i made it. i felt like death.

i looked at my hands they were white as sheets.

council worker said have mild hypothermia, got driven home feeling like death was near, straight to bed, woke up few hours later felt fine.

best day around 13 years ago....my younger friends mum....could have been even better but e..dys.

still great though.
