The State titles were held over the weekend of the 8 and 9th of April hosted by Georges river sailing club and the team of volunteers. We had a fantastic turnout with almost 20 riders and it was great to see some new faces and novices getting out there and having a blast. The weather and wind were near perfect for the event with 4 to 5 races each day. Saturday saw a building North east breeze which made for some fast racing and big spills. Sunday was a shifty Westerly breeze of 15knots and made for some challenging racing on larger kites.
At the pointy end of the racing Jordan Girdis and Sam Bullock demonstrate their finely tuned skills and precision with neck and neck racing all the way round the course and some photo finishes. Jordan managed to keep just ahead of Sam and has retained the NSW Kite racing title for the second year. Congratulations Jordan
Ric Black was a stand out effort with his first foiling event and making it onto the podium in 3rd overall and 2nd place for NSW.
The Grom form Townsville Scotty Whitehead only 14yrs old and showing some real skill on the foil, it was awesome to watch such a young talent ripping around the course.
Thanks to everyone who attended and travelled to be there.
The event was also made possible by Kitepower Aust who provided prizes and gift certificates to all the winners. Thanks for your ongoing support.
Boatcrewgear.com also came on board and generously offered 15% discount to all competitors and a $50 voucher as an encouragement award. Thanks for coming on board this year and we look forward to your ongoing support.
