i'm all for upselling used kites and everything else for that matter on ebay, if someone is to lazy to research how much item x is worth and they pay through the nose then that's their problem, but there are some people who take the concept a bit to far.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Kite-Surfer-Aero-and-board-Naish_W0QQitemZ120046640944QQihZ002QQcategoryZ58133QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

that must be the most stupid reserve on an item i've ever seen. 2001 era crap for $1800. oh dear.

Ive always wondered about that!
I reckon that Ebay should stop listing kites. If anyone queries it or trys to auction one, a notice should come up telling them to come onto this site. At least people wont be paying top dollar for something soooo crap and they may just get the right advice.

Cheers
Dan

Are you saying kite shops will not sell a kite to some one who has not
had a lesson? don't think you will be able to give away "c" kites by the end of the year, from what Iam seeing on the beach.

I don't think that there would be many shops that would sell a kite to a bloke without at least advising him on lessons, saftey, instructional videos, provide feedback etc. IMO, if there are shops that wont even advise, they shouldn't be able to trade...they will be contributing to an accident and probable ban as a result of the accident. Thats not to say that the shop owners are responsible for anything that happens outside the store but I would have thought they of all people would want the sport to progress in the safest possible way...thereby keeping as many locations ban free...more customers...more money!

As I have said (probaly way too many times), too many people getting into it, all crowding the same spots, and then to introduce **** gear in the hands of a beginner...you're asking for a ban! Take it off ebay...at least if interested get onto seabreeze.com.au they can get a bit of feedback from the forum riders and start in the safety possible way.

Spread the antihype!

HAHA looked at the listings on ebay and they are mostly people trying to off load pre 2005 kites to beginners with claims like a 12m up to 30 knots with 85KG RIDER, I DON'T THINK HE UNDERSTANDS HOW STRONG 30 KNOTS REALLY IS feck the caps lock

I rekon I might sell my kite on ebay for a laugh and a half. Those who know the kite will understand.
