Hi Buddy, I had a 07 11m Waroo, it was a nice all round, strong kite.
There are better performing kites out there from that year that turn faster, have a more direct feel, jump higher, etc. However as an all round kite it was pretty good. Agree with what is said about the bar above.

This season I set out to demo quite a few kites before I purchased.
Found a few I liked Ozone Edge/Sport, Slingshot REV, 08 Waroo. I ended up purchasing a 9m and 13m 2008 Waroos.

The 2008 Waroos are a very different kite, much better than the 07s.

If you are just starting out or looking for a 1st or 2nd kite, i think you really can't go wrong with the 07 Waroo. If you have a bit more experience under your belt, there is better performing kites out there.

Cheers, Carl.

I agree with Carl. I think last years Waroo was aimed towards beginner/intermediates a bit more than other similar kites, but never actually tried one myself. I tried several 08 kites this year before purchasing the new Waroos, of which I can seriously recommend.

Was that a 2007 or 2008 waroo that exploded ??
The reason I ask is ;
I pumped up a virgin 2008 waroo on Easter Saturday and while I was stringing out my lines....
the leading edge went BANG.
lol.

Sounds a little weird as we have had only 2 warranties in australia so far. Just take back to your dealer and grab another. No stress. Any probs let me know.

Joe,
Were those 2 warranties in Australia due to exploding leading edges ??
Just curious.
(If not, what was the problem) ?

Yeh one was a basic blow out at the Leading edge, along the seam, not sure exactly why this happened. The 2nd was also on the LE but looks as if the guy has hit something sharp on the beach, he eventually admitted to this. It was still warranted tho.

The Waroo is in its 3rd season and R&D have learnt and listened to feedback from 06 and 07 and come up with a bomb proof kite for 08. If there are any issues with the kites and is within the warranty period, It will be replaced. I still believe that Best Kiteboarding's warranty and service is the best in the industry. Its also only getting better as well, now that systems are in place to service the customer.

If you have any probs with a Best product, first thing to do is contact the dealer you purchased through. If that dealer is not available, or they are from overseas etc, contact me, Ill help you.

regards
Joe Millen

Mate - I bought a second hand 13m 2007 Best Waroo after taking my lessons and am very happy so far. I also flew a 13m Fone Bandit, and an Fone Tribal 2 during lessons. For the stage I was at (ie raw noob) it flew just as nice as those two (although the bandit seemed a little sweeter to fly I must admit)

I have had no problems self launching it using the different techniques out there. Its easy to water relaunch as long as theres 10-12 kts or so. I have given it a shellaking at times too trying to fly it in too little wind and smashing onto beach/water when it falls out of sky. The beach I often use has quite a few shells on it too but its held up well so far. Valves all seal good and the bag is nice cause its big enough and the kite slips in so easy.

It depowers heaps when you need it,and trim straps are ok to use, although I did prefer the cleat on the Fone Bandit. Safety attaches on harness side of the bar in centre and the quick release system is easy to use and put back together. Its nice and stable at the zenith and only falls out of the sky if you fly it outside of its wind range It has plenty of grunt for me (92kg) and turns quick enough for my current experience level.

I would certainly buy Best again and can recommend it as being very suitable for beginners. I also like the fact that you can replace the components of the bridle system individually if required as they wear although havent had to do that yet. Simple 4 line set up too. Overall - very happy with it and as an extra bonus I only paid $750 for a 6 month old kite. Hope this helps.

I've got 5 Waroos(does my head in deciding which one to take out)- tried others but couldn't get back to the Waroos fast enough! Never had a problem, except when caused by myself.

harry testies is a nutsack.

im selling it because i recently got sponsored and have no more use of it. its a red 07 9metre with bar and lines with a brand new chicken rope on it. if ur 92kg's you would probably use it in windier days where your 12 would be a bit too big.

lol.
Even if you lie and cheat....
you still get a warranty job.
BEST must be the sugar mama of all kite co's.

But anyway, those above stats are interesting.
With mine, that makes 3 failures and all 3 with leading edge explosions.
That's 3 out of probably 3,000.
I guess I was just unlucky.
I must have bought a dud kite.
A friday kite that was made on a long weekend.
(Do they exist in China sweatshops) ?
The year of the rat sh1t kite.

On the subject of design flaws.....
The reo-patch on the 2007 waroo where the frontline bridle connects to the leading edge.....
It's a weak-point.
The reo-patch is well over-stitched.
The more sewing holes, the weaker the fabric.
It's the holistic approach.
*They learn from us.
Wink.

And to all the noobs...
The guru doesn't teach you how to kite....
The kite teaches you how to kite.
lol.
