Gday fellas. Iv noticed in my last couple of sessions. My 08 9m ozone sport's depower clam cleat is not grabbing the depower rope when i try to pull some more depower in. The cleat is clean and free of sand but sometimes its near im possible to achieve depower.

Has anyone had this before and whats a soloution? It use to work fine.

Hi JiP,

I haven't experienced any of the issues of clam cleat wearing out on any of the models I have, either in the school or the demos, but we have had about half a dozen customer kites that have worn out the beal center line depower rope.

You can buy a whole new kit includes trim system, depower line and clam cleat all as an integral unit. It takes about 15 minutes to replace it and then you're good to go again. I have a few spare clam cleats you can have for free if you can work out how to get them on and off.

I have another shipment arriving soon (next week) and will have more of the kits in it as well as other parts and accessories. Let me know if I can help you out. I can even strip down a spare bar if you are in dire need of a replacement sooner.

Good winds,

Hi KH
yeh the Beal line is in great condition, its suprisingly the metal cleat !
Its only just started to become completely useless so i havent actually studied the arrangement to replace just the clam cleat.
Can you
pm me with a price for the assembly please

Ideally just replace the trimmer/cleat assembly, we have them in stock at the Kitepower stores.
Alternately if you have access to some small flat files, like the ones toolmakers and jewellers use, then you could resharpen the teeth of your cleat that have become worn. (dremel would work too)

Always rinse the sand off you bar when you begin a session and you should never have any issue with cleat wear.
Always pull down on the trimmer rope/beal before lifting it out of the cleat.

Cya and
