Looking at selling up my old kites and getting 2 new Naish Torches (09). Now my wind range in is usually 13-15 knots in the seabreezes, anywhere from 13-20 knots in the trade winds, and anywhere from 15-30 in the monsoonal winds. Now I only have the cash for two kites, so what sizes should I be looking at?

I was thinking 10m and a 14m. I'm 70kg, and ride a 131cm 08 Naish Thorn, intermediate rider. Also, as the new Naish bar has interchangeable lengths, would I be have one bar for the two kites?

any advice appreciated, Cheers

skiddz,

i'm 85kg, just picked up a 10m 09 Torch and have a 14m Alliance. No problem with using the 09 bar on these two kites so i don't see any reason that you would need 2 bars. I think you could get away with a 9 and 12 as aden says or even a 8 and a 12.

cheers,

robert

very hesitant on buying a 12, as I have a 12m Naish Boxer which I hardly ever use at it's not windy enough. Most of my time is spent on an 06 16m Torch, which is quite slow and probably a touch too big for me

i doubt you'd use a 9m very much in darwin. i'd say an 11 and a 14/15 and you would only use the 11 occasionally.

for the rare strong wind day, buy an old 2nd hand 7 for a couple of hundred bucks. you might only use it twice a year
