My 11m rev starts at 12 knots. I mean a little work with the kite and you can stay upwind, jump, roll, and loop: lot of fun.
75 kg wet. 555 130x39

I think nearly all modern kites starts at very low because they fast. When they fast they produce a lot of power. My Venturi 8m starts grunting at almost the same low end. Just a little more work at first.

After a season on 10m SB2 I decided not to buy kites bigger then 10-11 m though there is nor much wind where I live.

Rebel,

I am 90 kgs and ride a 131 Thorn. I can get going from 17 knots. Comfortable unhooking up to about 25 knots but thereafter gets pretty sketchy. Not much else to offer but it may help you a little in reaching your decision. I've never ridden the 13m to compare.

Fozzy

**Edit**

Didn't actually mention it was on an 11m did I.

first of rebel you need to change your name if you going to ride ss I ride a 11m im 84kg and ride the lunacy 129, the 11m should do you, if you unhook, ive see a 110kg rider have enough on the 13m, but it really comes down to your riding stlye and if you like to be abit over power or abit under powered, i would say the 11m but its your choice

I am usually riding in 14 knots.. dont get much wind even in summer where i am
i woudl rather be riding a smaller kite.. but maby a 13 would be better.. i prefer being over powered

If you don't get much more than 14 and like riding powered then go with the 13m. Turns quick and has heaps of grunt for lighter days with great depower when it kicks in!!

I just thought you never get 100% decent answer just asking. It is a sort of bingo game. You know how often it goes.
You never get right one until you try.

The lines are 25m or so.

Lines are 23m.

Go the 13. Or if you can afford it go the 9 & 13 combo.

I'm 85kgs and can hold the 13 down in 28knts on a 132flx. It turns very fast for its size and loops very tight.

On the 132 I can stay upwind effortlessly at 15knts

On the 149Glide you can bring the bottom end of the 13 down to about 8knts.

The 9m is good from 20knts upto 35+knts so the 2 kites overlap perfectly.

If your a lightweight go the 7 and 11 combo

P.S. I like to be slightly overpowered + Rev = Boost'O'clock

Amen to that, nothing like an old school boost when lit on the Rev.

So back to the release date... Early or late August? Anyone know? I just sold all my kites and am eagerly awaiting the 09 batch. Luckily I've been able to borrow a mates kite but that won't last for ever.

I wouldnt expect anything major to change because the kite is pretty damn good already.

Prob just the usual hype; more low end, speed, turning, relaunch ect. Like when the 08 Rebel was released

I wouldnt mind seeing a few different tuning options to slow down the 7m and 9m a bit. Not that I dont like fast kites, it just could be a good noob option if you could increase bar pressure and slow the kites down a bit.

i wonder if theyve changed the chicken loop bit where you can pull the release..because a few people have been mistakinly pulling that instead of the depower.

I heard a romour that Slingy are currently working on a new bar and safety leash design.

Only rumour but I reckon this is prob their main area for improvement? I'd like a softer bar and stopperball like best that can be over ridden by pushing the bar out.

Idiocy is not a reason to change a good QR design tho

It's not so much pulling instead of the depower but when grabbing the chicken loop to hook back in after unhooking. I must admit I have made mine inoperable to stop this from happening.

Had a demo on the 09 rev a week ago. Awesome. The 08 are pretty hard to beat, but the 09's have probably given an extra 10-20% performance.

10-20% extra performance is a big call - in what areas has the performance been improved. They could not increase the speed by 20% - surely? This is already a very fast kite and 20% increase would not be beneficial, the kite would just fly to the edge of the window too quickly and not be suitable for most tricks. Same goes for turning speed. The only way to increase power without a shape change is to increase canopy size. Surely the shape hasn't changed that much?

Please can you clarify.

Here's a webservice translation of the french text with the 09 rev pics-
After the world success of the REV, here the first photographs of the REV2: New distribution of the panels, news bars, 3 different points of fasteners for the arrears (allows to give about of presence out of bar)… It will be dispo in shop in September, while waiting it will be in test ahead first world in Touquet for Slingshot party
So different rear line attachment points?!?! can anyone confirm this? also what about dates into australia?

Has any one else had issues with their REV's not being able to hold a stable leading edge shape, when loading, even when super inflated? I have had issues particulalry with the 9 where under load in gusts or when really loading up the lines the kite starts to jellyfish along the leading edge resulting in unstable flying. This was paricularly evident in frontal or gusty consitions which it to be expected i guess but also occured when loading up for jumps. I am now running at 7 bar on the slingy pump even 8 on occasion but was wondering if there have been any refinements in the leading edge regitiy / stability on the 09 REV?

Rebel, if I were you I would go the 13m. It sounds like you have fairly light winds, so it will probably be more suitable. You just won't be able to go out when its really good (aka 25knots+).

If you can wait until the 09 kites come out, you could probably get 2 new 08 kites much cheaper then. They won't be much different, because everything is so dam good now. Then you could get a 13, and a 7 or 9. Depending on how windy it gets were you are.
