I'm just getting into kiting and I have the option of a 9m and 12m Switchblade Cabrinha 2007 at a good price. I weigh 75kg. So my question is what is the best size if I'm only going to have one kite and also what recommendations do you have on board size.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Pretty sure you would be better off with the 12. Switchblade has a fairly large wind range.

If you are an experienced kiter, the 12 should get you going in 12knots and up to about 25knots. You can fly it in more but you'll be getting overpowered.

I live in newy and 9m would be the better option, you can give it a little more work to get going early and we do get really strong breezes more then occassionally. leaving you sitting on the beach when it's really on..

Just seen that you are just getting into the sport - 9m may be the go then with something like a 137 board.

I would back up what sorse is saying, I also live around here.

And having two boards is a good option.
I have a 129 (Lunacy) and a 141? (singshot SX)
Having these two boards gives plenty of options with varing winds.
If it gets a bit light I pull out the bigger board and it keeps me going a bit longer.

ric
PS if you plan on getting into the sport and doing it as much as you can you will end up with two kites for sure (If you are still kiting, I will give you 13 months before you have two)
I got a 9 & 13

yes good advice ,particularly the 2 boards ,now here's a tip that some won't let you in on .most kites come with 23-25 m lines .Add 5 m extensions for the light stuff and you've pretyy well got all bases covered as you'll get a couple of extra kts fun range in the bottom end (remove for high wind of course which incidently you should avoid until your skills are sweet .I'm talking over approx 23 kts here for a 9 for your weight).i have been having ablast in the waves in the light stuff we've been getting lately ,( until I was relieved of it by theives) my 11 m waroo on my big board while the other fatties around here have been on 14's .I was devastated .but my 12 m ozone light is now giving me the same pleasure .I weigh 100 kg so the 9 of any type SLE will do the job for you .

Just a heads up to check the model of the Switchblades you are considering.

The 2007 model Switchblades did not have a 9m, but did have a 10m and 12m. The 2006 switchblade had a 9m.

There was a big improvement in the Switchblades from 2006 to 2007.

If it is really a 2007 it will be a Switchblade 2.

That is the easiest way to check, it will be written on the kite.

Also agree that 07 kite is better than 06.

Also agree that 2 boards are better than one

Also agree that you will end up with 2 kites (just do a deal with the guy to buy both kites to get them cheaper now) and skimp on something else ie Dump your girlfriend, she won't like that you are out kiting all the time anyway.....consider it a Pre-emptive Strike

NO we haven't, so you are not missing anything.
Working a kinda regular job I have used the 13 more than the 9, but this guy is just getting into it, hence the given advice.
