Hi, was out today in st kilda riding for a good hour and a half before having a rest and then attempting to self launch my kite and head back out. Was using the leading edge face down method to relaunch my kite when suddenly the leading edge just exploded (** son!)! Large shredded hole in the bladder and a meter long horizontal rip along the leading edge seam. Don't believe it was caused externally from any sharp objects (i dont think?!). I bought this kite brand new from brazil over the internet from kitemare.com in march this year. Dont think it comes under warranty and i cant see me being able to claim anything from them...

Just want it fixed asap!!!

Where can i buy a new 14m 06 leading edge bladder from?????

Where can i get the leading edge seam fixed in melbourne? It's just ripped the stitching and not the material.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just want to get back out there asap

Cheers!

It might be worth trying to contact Best direct. They pride themselves on customer service and so you might be able to wrangle at least a bladder from them. Lodge a post on their forum showing pictures and description of the damage and see what they say. If you bought it new you might get a positive response.

Hi BigEZ

Exactly the same thing happened to mine, about 400mm LE torn and about a 250mm blow out in the bladder. Mine was older though. I noticed the stitching on the LE start to look dodgy after 12months of relatively heavy use. I know it's a bit far away, but Moti Levi of Air Wake en Surf www.wakensurf.com/ repaired mine. The leading edge between the middle three struts needs restitching, and he repaired the bladder as well. All is good now. From what I can tell this is a common problem.

I agree, if you go to the best forum and state what happened and some photo's it won't be all bad they seem really good. I'm not talking from experience, but I've read lots on their forum that backs up the comment on how they will endeavor to help out if it looks like a workmanship issue.

Good luck and hope your on the water sooner than later..

Yes, found out that this is a common problem in the 06's. I've been told that they don't double stitch the LE seam like some other companies, however they used to?! There's even been some problems in the 07's regarding the LE stitching.

When do the 08's come out?

Even thinking of investing my hard earned cash in another company...

Suggestions for 08 Bows/SLE??????

The Best 06's were a basic leading edge stitch. In saying that there are still hundreds around with no issues to date. You have to factor in also that these kites far outsold any others in 06 as well, so percentage failure rates are actually very good.

Check the current 07 gear from many well known overrated brands, they are using the same which is a shame as there are better ways now days.

The Best 07 leading edges are very very strong and robust - not one fault here locally yet out of around 60-70 kites.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. If you got the kite from me I would have replaced it or paid for the repair at worst out of goodwill.

The new model Nemesis HP should be hitting our shores in the next few months check out this link for some testing details.
