I am getting 2 new torches, sizes to be decided. I am not sure which 2 to get to cover me for kiting in most conditions. My stats are below. Any recommendations as to the two sizes I pick for my two kite quiver would be appreciated and helpful.
85 kg, ride a 5'9" directional in waves and really only interested in wave riding, not freestyle. Currently I have a 2 Rev2 quiver: 7 and 9 which suits me fine. In the past (04 - 06) I rode fuels on my twin tip and my main sizes were 9 and 13. I then went to Cabs for a while (7, 9, 12 xbows, but they sucked as they were too slooow for me), before back to ss and I must say that I love how the Rev flies. I ride in Cape Town where the wind is anywhere from 0 to 30 knots, but most of my riding is in the 14-25 knot range. So what do I get: 8 and 10 or some other combo (between 6 and 12)? Oh, I will be hanging on to the Revs as well for a while.
Why am I changing?: want to go to a C, I have had issues with the Rev bar, time to upgrade and I am doing a trade - my service for 2 new kites.

Dunno if this is of any help, but I have a 14/10 quiver, riding a 131 twinny and i weigh about 72kg.
The 10m I can start using in about 15-16 knots, and have been out in gusts up to low 30s with it, but it's uncomfortable and I was really overpowered. The top end of this kite for me would probably be about 25 knots.

I suggests you get 8 and 10. I weigh 80kg and I use (6,8,10) torches, 8 is my main.

definitely go for the 8m and 12m. that is what i have but i will be getting a 6-8-10 for the 2010 hopefully as these 2 are both 2m too big 4 me. (55kg) they arent the worlds gruntiest kites (they have quite a bit of power tho) so a 10m as a biggest would b too small.
hope this helps

hey mate 8m and 12m is the go, the 8m is so powerful it can handle the light winds and the 12 is perfect for anythign less than that, i could go out on my 8 when i was having trouble flying my 12 becuase of the speed of it!!

I'm also ~85kg. I have a mixed bag quiver but my main kite is 12m Torch. On a twin it gets me going at about 15/16 knots, sweet-spot around 20 knots and maxxing out about 25 knots (useful max not absolute...). With a 5'9' might be a but hard to schlog it out in the lighter stuff with a 10m but the 12m would be the biggest you'd use in surf. I'd say either 8/12 or 7/10, depends on your style. Can you get a local demo?
PS - Naish unhooked feel - love it. Also bar/loop designed to hold loop out and parallel to bar when unhooked so you never have to search for the loop when re-hooking.

I've done a research on C kites and apparently Torch is the best.
I didn't have enough money for it so I ended up with a Core GT.
I'm 85kg too, Torch 8&12 is the answer FOR WA.
You are in South Africa so it would be better if you talk to a local Naish dealer or send an email to Naish and they will respond fast.
