Remembering the gear release 2001 and just thought how exciting and fresh the sport was back then, things were still extreme and unknown and kitesurfing actually involved an element of risk.
I was going to say that kitesurfing in 2009/2010 reminds me of kids at the skate park razor scootering, but then i realised that is actually more extreme.
Kitesurfing 2010 = old people on mobility scooters that don't actually need them...

Show us ya red.

carefactor 0. who gives a fig how extreme it is. It's fun thats the main point. If you want extreme go run across a 6 lane highway in peakhour. why do you even persist with the sport if you thinks its so lame? heres an idea , why don't u get yourself a kite from 2001 or even better 1999, then u can tell all your mates how "extreme" u are. Don't forget to keep your kite below 45 degrees when doing wanktricks otherwise people might think your a kook, also make sure u wear your boardies out side your wettie, and whatever u do don't let people see you smiling or having fun, it's all about how hardcore u are remember

How does kiting not involve an element of risk? Go kite in a storm or something? Go jump off a bridge with your kite, tow yourself up behind a jetski, jump off a cliff and land on the water, do a super long downwinder like the recent one to Hobart?

Just for the record I ride a motorcycle as well... and well it can get pretty stupidly fast and dangerous (and idiotic), but I can tell you that at times I equally enjoy kitesurfing, which is (in my opinion) far less risky.

I do both because I love to.

Why would you kite if it's like "riding a mobility scooter"?
