I'm thinking of purchacing a light wind kite. I'm 80kg and was thinking about an old Contra. Is 23.5m too big? Is 16.5m too small? I just need a kite to get me to where my 12m xbow takes over. Does anyone use a 23.5 contra? If so what's it like?

Anything bigger than a 12 is too big. My biggest kite for the last 2 years has been a 12 and last year was a 10 although I spent most of my time on the 7 Halo. Anything bigger than a 12 is too slow for wave riding. The biggest kite our rental centre will stock this year will be our 14 m Flow. But to be fair, it probably has the bottom end of a 16 but is user friendly and fun.

Buying a 23 metre kite, it would be cheaper to move to WA

yes, this is right ! just do something else when it is not windy enough ....
fly stunt kites for exemple, like me. great fun in no-8 knts winds.
