No there is nothing you can do for that kite except pump it up harder, sounds like it was underinflated.
There was a mod you could do to the larger SB2's to help them turn a bit better but there was no mod that I know of for the first switchies, which came out in 2006 and had pulley 2:1 bars. This kite could not be converted to 1:1 AFAIK.

So these kites had a reputation as being a hand-full?
Makes sense that there might have been teething issues given that it was the first year.
No there was no issue with their general handling, but as someone and myself have said, pump it up properly, check your line lengths and it will be fine, provided you keep in mind it is a 2006 kite that has slower response than than a 2012 kite.
Most of what you describe will be related to underinflation - pump it harder.
