With all new kites now being called 2007 models; what was the best kite for 2006. I know there should be a few categories but if it came down to one..was there a clear winner?

you'll always get stuck with people's personal opinions and bias on such a question.

i think the best waroo would be up there, better price than its competitors for an equally good package, a bloke at kitebeach uses his between 15 and 30 knots and it preforms well at each end of the scale. i can't see the point in spending an extra $700 for a crossbow.

lol - kite of the year? Only person qualified to say that would be someone that has flown all 2006 kites extensively over a long period and even then it comes down to style riding preferences and ability levels, best kite for you is realistically the kite you bought and are not trading in for a 2007 model. Like duh!

I reakon Switchblade and Crossbow for Vico riders would have to be in the running. I Totally Dig my 12m Switchblade. Just look at how many are out there. (On a Northerly at Kitebeach they are pretty much the only kites hacking it). Its great to just bar out and be able to whimp out of the Big Gusts. I wish they steered one handed but. The 2006 Waroo is nice for the $$$. - and much lighter on the Bar.

Nup!, Gotta be the 7m Airush Halo. One of the few kites that have sent me high enough to be concerned about low flying aircraft.

Tricky to fly and not good for beginners but performance to burn baby!

Good winds,

Motor organisations have a "car of the year" that doesn't suit all buyers. Its not the intention of the question. Just intersted what the pimps and punters think. Well I'm keeping my 7m switchblade cwamit, so I guess its getting my vote. I may regret selling the fuel so i'm giving it half a vote as well.

I certainly wouldn't be rating the crossbow or switchblade as the '06 top bow kites with all the problems they have had, modifications they have decided to implicate (esp. when most have modified their pulley and bridle system better than the modification suggestions)...

imo, you can invert any bow, and I have only once seen a Waroo invert in hellous Westerly conditions. For the price and what you get, ud be insane not to go for a waroo. Esp with the reputation of the Waroo Pro's we had a one of our riders on his 13m W-pro going when no-one else could. They generate power of their own.

I think Cab had tarnished their bow reputation; don't get me wrong, for 'C' kites I think they are bonza, but for bows and it's the Best Waroo and W-Pro and esp LiquidForce Assault Gen 2 taking over the bow world... and for obvious reason.

I fly a 12m waroo which is a great kite, but I'm going to go with either the Vegas or Impact as the stand outs for this year (for me anyway)

Bummer - because I was looking for a second hand 7 meter switchblade that would of made three 06 blades in my kit, end up getting a new pulse instead!!!!

That and the fact that I like to give my biased opinions on a completely biased topic.

I still get Perth radar asking me to 'squawk ident' when using the good old 2004 North Rhino...lol
However...I agree you would be hard pressed to choose 'the best one'... the Waroo does sound good value for money.

drumroll........the 2006 kite of the year is the one that the person who bought it, is enjoying now, somewhere on a water paddock close to you!

"kite of the year" **** a duck they all copy each other!!!!

buy one, go kiting! enjoy

quality of components often reflects price and higher priced market leaders are usually market leaders for a reason.

people on a deal often attack other companies to justify why they are on a deal in the first place or maybe they are just people needing to feel important.

Technically, the Nova 1 was the first out with a light bar, but I would say that Sonic was actually the first one that got it right, the nova 1 was a little slow turning.

I saw some kids at the beach the other day flying a Garbage bag with a Foam Meat Tray attached to it. Seemed to go pretty well...They said their R&D team had got it right this time, after the failings they had with the Coles Plastic Bag and Cardboard Box.

No pulleys on the bar, only on the kite.
