Pretty much everything will be available over the next 2 - 6 weeks. We have a demo 13M Fuel, and a 12M Octance here as well as a 2005 Misfit and SX. The Fuel is built tough with all seams reinforced, new colours and slightly different but very familiar panel layout. Only one rear line attachment, 3 fronts, plus a purpose built 5th line attachment on the LE. The Octane has Leading edge camber inducing/holding battens, and the struts finish at approx 2/3rds chord, and the rest of the strut is a very flexible batten, which allows the trailing edge to warp and give better turning and lift characteristics (in combination with the profile and the cam battens)
The Fuel and Octane bar is incredibly well engineered, the chicken loop in particular. The centre line can be replaced and the length customised, as can the size of the chicken loop. The 5th line ccan be disconnected easily and safely in the case of a kite being rolled in the surf, and the kites fly well without the 5th line. just waiting on enough wind to test the gear.
The Turbo Diesel will create some ripples when it is released, the bar in particular!!

well it can't b worse than the crossbow bar surely.....
unless it is 5ft long, as wide as a tree trunk and has more pulleys and gizmos that u cant point a stick at.

pretty weird...

Say Hammer Head i was reading somewhere that the slingshot fuel directly competes with the north vegas and the naish torch, does this mean to say that octanes compete with the Rhino's?

If i want the best kite slingshot are bringing out is this no longer the fuel then????

The Fuel is the best of Slingshots range if you like the unhooked/wakestyle type of riding. The Octane is the best of Slingshots range if you like to boost. Two kites with different objectives, not one that is neccessarily better than the other.

The Fuel is a great kite. I have had it for about a week and finally got some wind today to give it a run (13m). It certainly handles differently than the 2005 due to a differing shape/cut. The wing tips are about 6 to 8 inches longer, the middle strut seems to be about 4 to 6 inches shorter (higher aspect), the 3rd strut is alot nearer to
the wing tip, the trailing edge seems to be more parallel to the leading edge and the scolloped trailing edge cut is not as pronounced, the LE is narrower in diametre. (We placed the 2005 and 2006 over each other deflated, then inflated and then side by side in the air).

IMHO the 2006 turns a hell of alot quicker due to the wingtips and seems to fly faster through the window. Bottom end seemed to be about the same, not enough wind to test the top end but I reckon I would be able to hold it down in a bit more wind as it was easier to send the kite out to the front when jamming the rail down hard in the gusts. It seems to have a more higher aspect feel to it, others may disagree, but that is how it felt to me. I had trouble with basic unhooking moves such as raleys, sbends and tantrums as the slightest bar input would move the kite.

The bar is great, you can customise the CL line, the CL and the 'cut out' section of the centre hole improves the turning with little or no resistance when turning unlike the knuckle saver bar of 2005 which required alot of input to turn the kite.

Any, this is just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Cheers

I donnow, she looks pretty nice to me??
She is not using the new Turbo Diesel bar.
Capt Gumby describes the ideas behind the two kites well. The Fuel is still the best constructed kite on the market, so if you push it hard in the surf or on flat water, that would be the kite of choice.

The Octane is still built to the highest standards, but not all the seams are "surf tough". It is the boost category kite which Slingshot recognise as a market segment, so they purpose built a kite that will boost big and give great hang time.

The Turbo Diesel bar will have pulleys, just like the Cab one, but with some more features that will appeal to all widespan kite users. I have not seen one in the flesh yet so I don't want to say anymore right now, should be available in a couple of weeks. Hope that answers your question to Baz?
