3 days - 3 ways - one low def camera.

Day 1: Surfing my 1970's single fin in 8 degrees and 35-40 knots offshore wind.
Day 2: Hitting kickers at one of my favourite spots in a nice 20knot NE.
Day 3: Kiting a few little waves on a gusty day at another nice spot.
All filmed in super Low Definition for your viewing displeasure!

Funny you mention it actually, as I recently won the "Rider of the Year" award given by myself.

Sick blog dude, realy enjoyed having a look.

I used to skate everyday but haven't in ages, they're buidling a skate park on st.kilda foreshore (Melbourne) so will get back into it. I can see the skate style in your flat 3's etc.

Thanks dude! I at least try to make it interesting sometimes haha.

Yep, I think skating is the one sport that can help all your boardsport skills because you have to be so precise and committed to everything you do.

That park is looking insane! I would definitely get down there and at least pump around the bowl if I was you! You would be crazy not to use such a good facility.

Hey bud. I agree , Skating teaches you balance which you can apply to, well, most of the fun sports.

I went out last night and tried some flat 3's. It's my aim for this season. I found the power in the kite a bit full on and wonder how you did it in the vid, were u in cross- offshore wind?

I guess you need to go downwind to lose some power from the kite yeah? I think also i need to commit with more speed, this may allow me to get more slack in the kite lines while in the air.

Your right. Kicker tricks are all to do with line tension. So to do a flat spin off a ramp you will need to go downwind just before you hit the ramp. The amount you need to angle downwind and how hard all depends on the direction of the wind and how strong it is. But in general.

1. Make sure you are going fast (this way when you bear off you wont just bog).
2. About a meter or 2 in front of the kicker you want to flatten off the board and go downwind a bit.
3. Let the kicker give you the height, to get higher keep your legs bent and extend off the kicker.
4. make sure as you leave the kicker you keep the board as parallel to the horizon as possible, this will keep you on axis. (also pretending to grab the nose before you pass on a frontside 3 will help this).
5. Remember to rotate the bar behind your back so you grab the right side.

The rest is pretty self explanatory, but I hope that helps!

Frontside 3s are a pretty easy trick to dial in after a bit of practice, but the hard part is grabbing it and making it look decent.
