this is based on from what ive seen in each state.

wa-safety bay for low numbers and friendly bunch of people

sa-no idea

vic-inverloch was pretty good

nsw- wallis lake was pretty flat and was just a generally sick loaction with waves at the beach and falt water at wallis

qld- alva beach. went up there a while ago and was perfect. km's of water sheltered behind sand bars with some kickers out the back.

as i said, these are not nesecerily the best spots, just ones ive come across and really enjoyed.

Add Rye to Victoria, another great flat water spot.

Also add Cungulla to QLD. Insane flat sections and I think Cungulla when the tide is right is even better than Alva although the channels are narrow (unless they have shifted since the last time I went there)

The North side is a shipping channel, lots of small traffic and the occasional container ship so no kiting in there. I haven't been there when a container ship comes past but I've heard you have to go a long way from the wall cos the wind just stops...

UK: Hayling Island at low tide - ankle to waist deep water for 1km out to sea, and a sandbar that creates a barrier to waves coming from the Solent on the prevailing SWer. Stays flat in any wind strength. Its like being at nth side Woodies without the fear of being blown all the way to Fremantle

Or Southend-on-sea, Essex UK. (or pronounced sarfend) 3hrs after high tide 1.5km x 5km+ waist deep flat as pancake, sandbar keeping waves (well chop) at bay, or The Ray at Southend, long straight stretch of water at low tide, waist to shoulder deep 4km long 600m wide, Sw wind, sandbar makes water flat, they hold the speed trails here. Wicked.

Denham WA low tide (low tide keeps the wildlife away as in Shark Bay).

Hayling high tide is the worst flatwater.

some people have kited there and it is meant to be one of the best spots in adelaide the only problem is getting there either tack upwind across the channel and hope nothing goes wrong or get a boat
but as we only kite there in a NWester it can be very inconsistent and unpredictable
its just as fun to stay at north haven beach and ride the clean waves

If you are going to go to Cungulla, you might as well go to alva. Cungulla is a better flat water spot but you have to get the tides spot on. Alva has the lagoons behind the sandbars and some good sized kickers/swell out back. Alva is definately the best spot in NQ.
