I recently brought a 12m Rebel and now am looking at getting a second kite for those windy days. The wind range stipulated by north shows the bottom end of the 7m and the 9m to be almost the same ? Has anyone ridden the smaller rebels and is the jump from a 12m to a 7m to big. I weigh 78kg and ride a Underground 132 FLX

i'd suggest the 9m
unless you live north of gero

whilst the 7 is a great kite, i'm your weight and unless 25kn +, i'll go out on my 10m.

i think 9 would cover more wind range especially lower end and unless stupidly strong the 9m will cover plenty of top end,

ideally 12, 9, 6 m for 15 to 40kn

Gotta try 'em. I noticed that the 12m and 9m 07' rebels had too much overlap, but from all reports, the 08' is a very different kite.

Being one of the few who have extensively ridden o7 7m and 9m and now 10m and 12m 08s I will confirm bolgos comments. Unless you really do have consistent 30+ knots then the 7m will work, however the 9m takes so much wind that the overlap is really not a problem.
nearly all my mates have 9m and 12m 07 Rebels, I had 7m and 12m and the gap was a bit too big. Hence I added the 10m Rebel 08.

Rider weight will also be important, the 7m is super high wind dedicated total max out kite don't get it out the bag unless its 30 knots and over, now it will ride less wind but so will the 9m.

As 10kg heavier than me the 9m will set up up to 34/35 knots, do you want more wind than that? The only time I was out when the other boys came in getting over done on the 9m was when the local weather station hit 39 knots so at lowest it was 37 knots. Every other max say all the boys were out.

I have ridden the 07 7m in 20 - 30 knots and the new 08 7m will have a bit more power so really it comes back to preference.

Daz,

I'm around 67kg and am riding 7, 10 and 12 '06 vegas' at the moment. To be honest, they're perfect kites...I can't fault any aspect of them. But I feel that I should possibly make the most of their resale value while it's still there and there are no repairs. So I'm looking at the rebels.

I use my 7 from above 15-16 knots on a surfboard as I like to be underpowered. I don't really get much use out of 10 or 12 unless it's light or doing the flatwater thing with my girlfriend.

So given the low end range, and still wanting a 12m for the light winds (which supposedly has a low end of 10 knots...BS!), would you suggest going the 6/9/12 combo or 7/10/12? Or even just 7/10?

I'll take into account the fact you're most likely a sponsered rider given the number of reviews by you on the net!

Oh, and before I forget, (cue blatent advertising), anyone interested in 3 perfect 06 vegas kites complete?! Remember that the 08 design has been based on the 06!

Cheers
Dan Roberts
