Hi Guys,

I need some advice...

I'm looking to buy a Waroo. My learning '06, 12m Xbow just exploded - it's getting pretty tired. And I'm looking to replace. I'm 80kgs with a 155cm board, in Perth. I found the 12m pretty good as I often sail late in evening when the wind is dropping off (after work - I love daylight savings).

I'm thinking of buying a 9m Waroo & getting my 12m Xbow fixed. The 9m as my main kite & then the tired old Xbow for light winds - is this a good plan or should I just get an 11m & through the thread bare Xbow in the bin?

Thanks,
Craig.

Do yourself a favour and see Darren Marshell at Pinaroo Point and fly an Ozone Sport 2 before you decide on a kite, they are awsome kites. Read about it in the review section.
This is not hype or pimping I tested the Ozone Sport and several others at Kite stock and the first thing I did when I got home is bought 2 of them!!

I bought an 08 11m Waroo a few weeks ago. I used to fly Rebels. The Waroo has a huge wind range, with very light bar pressure, and also a similar direct feel to the Rebels so you can probably get away with 1 kite until you can afford a 9m too. The key is to try as many kites as you can before you buy one, because some riders may think a certain kite is great, others may completely hate it.

I agree, try as many kites as possible, however, I think the Waroo is by far the better contructed, performing and least expensive kite on the market. You will not be unhappy with that choice.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info I'm pretty set on the Waroo, but should I go 9m or 11m in Perth?

Thanks,
Craig

I personally would go for the 11m. I weigh about 77kgs and ride a 132. I have ridden the 11 from 15-35 knots. Obviously a 9m would be better above 30 knots but the 11m was still manageable.

You really should try other brands before you buy, I tried several very hyped kites before I bought my Waroo, and did not like any, but you may be different.

Your plan is good. Keep the old Crossbow for light wind and get the 9. Im 88kg and use 07 9 Waroo in anything over 18 knots. The 9 is my favourite kite. Grunty, fast, stable and still going strong after 2 seasons of heavy use.

As a 1 kite quiver get the 11, if you keep the Xbow get the 9. I think the answer depends on what winds you mainly kite in but IMO at around 18knts and over the 9m smokes the 11m.

I think the 9m will be the better kite. (i'm 75kg).
I have a 9m Waroo 07, as my only kite. If the arrows are green then I can kite.
I live in both geraldton and perth and have found it good for 18 - 26knots (with 30+gusts). Over 26knot start wishing I had a 7.

I will probably get a second hand 13 or 14m kite for lighter winds next season when i'm back in perth fulltime.

The 9 will still certainly get the most use during summer. As for the build quality this is my second season on the 07 and still no no problems / regrets with buying the waroo.

Great kite to use, much much better than the 2003 cabrinha co2 i started out with.
