Thankfully the wind has returned, this should mean a lot less Grumpy kiteboarders. Just kidding!!
So now is the time to make sure that your gear is ready to go.
Last season and already this season one repair that I have done quite a few of is shortening lines and sewing
on new sleeved ends mostly because of knots in the lines.
This usually happens when you are running out your lines ready to hook up to your kite in strong wind.
When you get near the ends of the line's and raise them up off the ground they tend to blow around and
sometimes tie themselves in a knot which is easily missed, once you fly the kite these knots are almost
impossible to get undone. The best way to avoid this happening in strong wind is as you get close to the ends
of the lines crouch down and keep them on the ground so the wind doesn't blow them around and cause them to
knot.
A knot in the line basically halves the strength of the line obviously there is the safety issue of breaking a line
and having two face that long long swim and the other issue is that a broken line can sometimes cause
major damage to your kite.
A simple thing to do crouch down to stop the wind blowing the ends of the line's but it could save you big dollars

Hey Bob,hows my old v2 repair comming along

Good chance of NE tomorrow arvo, come visit the flat top crew if you have time(all 2 of us).Looking like a good summer season ahead of us going by the early North winds we are getting.fingers crossed.

A few of us up here are keen for a downwinder to Valla/Nambucca once the winds are a bit more reliable if you are keen.Maybe get the Nambucca crew as well for a bit of a social day??

probably a good time to check any pulleys and shackles on your kite/lines too. I had a shackle which connects my front lines to the depower strap almost come undone, when I was the only one out last week. I came in thinking something wasn't right (on dusk no one around a big swell I was a bit nervous). I threw my bar in my kite and whent home where I found the shackle and pin on my kite and my front lines disconnected.

Good topic and great timing.
Probably best to make sure Bob is not behind you when you are running out your lines though.
Any knot can be undone with some TLC, spit, a hammer, a hard flat shiny surface and maybe a pin.

Another thing to do is check out your local spot before just charging in. See if there are new rips, gutters or banks that have formed over winter.
For instance, it is now impossible to launch or land a kite on the North side (city side) of Dolls point rock groin, there is a strip of sand about 7-8M wide at high tide!!!
Dolls is consequently a very begginer unfriendly place, as the only sand is well down into the river where the current runs strongest. The currect runs at up to 5 knots just off the beach on the widest part of the sand where begginers might be mislead into thinking thats is the safest spot.

Prior Preparation Prevents a Pis$ Poor Performance!! (and big swims)

Goodwinds
