Then you could claim every other brand copied cabrinha and takoon because they were the first with bow kites on the market.

Not for me...
Still best a C kite or a Hybrid for wave riding!
The Delta shape has too much pull down the line.
I also notice that they like to stall a bit.

"Takoon communicates on the wave, this kite does only that?"

Is that a question? WTF?

Does the kite talk to the wave or something? I'd like a kite to say "Hey, don't you dare farking close out here buddy!" or if it wanted to talk to me it could say "farking get out outta here!" or "go on there's heaps of time for a smack!"

Ahh, gotta love the marketing schpeel, it just gets better and better as the years go on.

No disrespect to the kite intended, i've never flown it, but a talking farking kite!!?? HA LOL

cant u tell from that lifelike drawing? the pure has a dot on the leading edge on the right side, a delta kite has a dot on the left side. U would be surprised how much difference that dot makes to the feel of the kite

Thanks for the reply Bennie.

I guess the dot on the right side of the Pure being much bigger than the dot on the left side of the Delta is the real key

Seriously, is a Delta a standard kite shape that kite makers vary to make it sound "new"?

and

Do they fly differently if slight changes are made?

(BTW, i am not talking about the Dots with these questions )

Cheers,

Simon

There should be awards for best marketing boolsh!t I reckon.

My vote is on the talking kite - a revolutionary idea.. until it starts calling my wave riding lame and requests I sell it to a better rider. Kn know-it-all talkin kite..

Most likely a great kite though BTW

My guess is minor changes would have massive impacts on how they fly. If you look at the minor differences between bow kites, the bridle locations and the overall feel of the kite, I would guess this would be no different. Simply by moving the bridle 10cm on exactly the same shape kite, you get a completely different feel, never mind a different shape.

takoon looks like a fatter kite (AR) and doesnt have that homosexual looking concaved TE like all the toenail kites have..

this looks more like a wainman kite if anything...

ps disagre about the rebel, or wainman rabbit looking like a toenail kite..

they look completely different... do you guys kite with your eyes shut or something?

Quite possibly. ^^^

For kites (or sails),
Out of all the elements that make up a design (and there are many)....
The one element that has the most effect and significance on performance is the outline shape.
Change the outline shape and you change how a kite flys.
To prove my point........
For centuries, sailing ships were basically square-riggers; going way back to the Viking vessels or even Chinese junks.
When sails became triangular shape, sail design took a paradigm shift.

Don't mean to pop your bubble pal, but don't get to excited. It's just another kite, I flew it on Thursday 20 mins was enough. Trust me if you have flown a 9m smoke then that's the closest to the pure. Not my choice of kite, but I'm sure it will attract some fans.

Simply put, it hasn't advanced on anything else currently out on the market IMO that is.

Cool I love the Wainman's Such a good kite. I would say these are quite a bit Different. The Wainman is lighter on the bar & the Pure feels more like a Delta, Thats IMO only after a short fly on the beach. Will post a review in that forum after a good ride.
Maybe Sammyj could putt a constructive review on as he has had a good fly of the kite, Lucky fellah to get to ride a kite just released.
Thanks.

I would like to see few more attachment points for the back lines
To me they are trying to catch up the train but I think they are a bit too late!!!
Who was looking for a new kite for the European-USA summer season for sure has already made his choice... End for the OZ season all the other brand will start to release around September the new kites...
They are about 5 months too late or about 4 months too early!!

Hey Jonno,

Well I'm afraid I can't give overly detailed constructive review because like I say, I could only be bothered with it for 20 mins before I said I've seen enough.

I'll be fair as I can here, as I know we all have different like and dislikes in what we fly. Just to give you an idea of what sort of kite I like it's the Hi-Fi, for how I like to ride that's the best I've come across yet.

So for starters the first thig I noticed is the bar is big for a 9m, bigger than what I would use on a 12m. It's depower is the above bar with a cleat which is better than straps IMO, but I'm still a below the bar man. Also I hate stoppers that need to be screwed to lock in to place. Stoppers should be easy adjustment and sliding, but I understand that isn't possible when only one rope goes throught the bar. I did like the feel of the bar with the ridge along the top. Personally I would like to try the kite on the 45cm LF bar.

When pumped up it physically looked big, I think that's due to the depth of the middle strut. I laid out the other 9m we had and it was on fractionally bigger in m2. It's very similar to the smoke.

*WARNING* to self launchers, this kite's front line's are the Y setup, both times we launched the outside line hooked up on the front at the Y. Just be aware is all I'm saying, I'd be concerned when self launching.

Once in the sky it wanted to fly over head, backstall and luff at one point or another. To be fair though the spot is tricky and the conditions where far from perfect for testing kites out. Once on the water it tended to backstalled just when I'd call on it, very anoying. It would go right back in the window so I'd let the kite breath and would shoot right up overhead, turning wasn't fast but then again I've come from Hi-Fi's. I would have just thought with a bigger bar the thing should have been like a bumble bee.

Anyway I'll try it again, I'll hopefully get better conditions and maybe use a different bar. I'm sure it will get a following as that's what happens, look at the rev's everyone rode them and raved about it for a year, now their back on fuels.

Thanks Sammyj Would of put it in the kite review forum, But good to see a genuine basic Review. The Hi Fi is a good kite. but the Hi Fi Comp is Epic, the best C kite I've used this year, makes a kite like the Fuel feel a bit ordinary.
Liquid force has definately come up with some good kites this year. I would say the 09 kites are 200% better than previous years.
I am still waiting for wind to get a good ride in on the pure.
waiting. waiting, waiting.
