Wind this time of the year in & around Perth is pretty...well...fickle. At best. I'm being polite when i say that.

Sure, we've had some good easterlies recently but the spots & options are pretty limited, if not insanely busy. Of course, the easterlies are good in the morning...you know, when you're on the way to work...

Of course, if there is anything vaguely SW, by the time I get home from work it's not worth loading the car because it will be dark before I get to my spot...of course, day light saving might help, but that's another story...

I think I'm going slowly insane...it's been so long since I've been kiting, I don't think I can remember when it was last...it's all too much...

I NEED A KITE...NOW!!!

Duude, it doesn't pay to be so one dimensional.

WA is open to so many other water based activities its not funny...

Surf: shortboard, longboard, stand-up board, boggie board, skim board
Paddle: surf ski, canoe, malibu
Dive: skin dive, scuba dive, free dive
Fish: handline, rod & reel, spearfish
Swim: pool, river, ocean

Not to mention land based fun, despite what the 'Dullsville' brigade proclaim. A good hit out on the mountainbike is pretty good fun and a great way to burn energy, and from where you live there's quite a good network of bike paths to get you places.

Just get yourself a decent headlight for your bike and time of day isn't a problem.

The odd jog doesn't hurt either. No it's nowhere near the buzz of kiting, but also great for burning energy.

Can't wait for the first big 25kt NW on a weekend though.

all I can say is sucked in! SOOO sick of hearing about how awesome WA is and how insanely windy it was in our least windy period, so know I am kiting at least a couple of times a week in my boardies with no great whites I guess NQ isn't that bad....

Hey Juddy,

The others are right. I love this time of year! No wind, no swell yet and still days with perfect water clarity means epic spearfishing and Freediving. The Spanish Macks are still about before they journey north for the winter, the water gets colder and out come the Dhufish!

Then in June comes the swell! Bust out the wax and go surfing. Then in July and August come the wicked westerlies and Nor Westers [}:)] Yeah baby!

It's also the time of year when land boarding reigns supreme. Throw up a kite and a mountainboard and fun exists in all wind directions in as little as 5 knots of wind. Just dusted off the mountain boards a few days ago, I even have a 2nd hand board to sell if anyone's keen

It all depends on perspective. I love the entire year for all it's seasons and the joy and buzz that each sport offers.

Good winds,

Ahh yes, a bit of the old mountainboarding. Partial to a bit of downhill myself, not quite as expressive as snowboarding but the adrenalin rush is there as the stakes are a bit higher on dirt than snow.
