I've done a few sports in my time, and have to say kiting is one of the best/ most addictive pastimes there is.

Unfortunately, it is by far the worst in terms of the amount of whingers it attracts and I'm often amazed at the lack of respect more competent riders show towards fellow kiters. All this stupid "kooks", and "Euros", bolleaux. Comments like this probably from the same tools who throw kiteloops on the shore line....

It's also far worse here than other countries I could care to mention

Were u kiting in a swimming pool bigeze, or is the ocean over that way really small, maybe you look like a tree and the cab riders were riders were drawn to your magnetic branches

If you're referring to the certain urchin-infested filth pit that i think you are, then it's more often a case of non-local riders just following what they see the other riders doing. We all know that at the right tide height you can use the entire length of beach, but as the tide goes out those sandbars can be quite hazardous, so the newbies/freshies/etc will just stick to the 'safe' spots.

It's the same deal when i go kiting on what i think are remote out of the way beaches. As soon as someone see's a kite in the air they all bloody well flock to the same spot that i'm at... regardless of if the conditions are appropriate for their equipment and experience.

at high tide there are no sandbanks, you can kite anywhere. My frustration is that i like to unhook and drop my kite knowing that i'm not going to bang someone on the head. When i find a nice spot and have plenty of room to do this and then someone decides to come along and kite underneath me then it pisses me off as i'm sure it does to anyone else that unhooks. It just needs to be said.
