He guys,

I'm keen to take an advanced lesson and propel myself forward quicker and get into jumping, different transitions and small tricks quicker/better and safer.

Have people done this before? Did you feel it was worth it?

I am considering doing one this weekend (if not fully booked)

Cheers Rick

A mate of mine who's been kiting 5 years, helped me out when I couldn't boost on flat water. We did a few 'drills' on the beach running at the water and doing little lifts, then at the moment of truth, my first attempt, I actually lept about 10cm off the water = stoked :) Got up to about a metre high that day!~ took about 20~30 min, cost a few beers, was defo worth it ;)

Yes its well worth the money once you start scaring yourself silly from little jumps - then realise most kites will jump quite well with Commitment

Get yourself a vest and a helmet - kayak style padding inside

As this will give you the Superman effect and will prevent being winded or head injuries until youve got it down - goin large has a way of teaching you Respect

After people get Slammed a few times it dwindles there self confidence and tend not to jump any higher...

Good luck and have fun

I went on a kite ride day a couple of years ago with my local kite school/kiteshop. (Kite Republic) They had the young guns there with them who would give you tips and pointers and Chris Sal spent a bit of time working one on one with me on my edge and pop. Was cheaper than private lessons and I got to meet a lot of the local crew. If there is something similar where you live I reckon it would be a good option for you.

If you hunt down Charl DV here on seabreeze you will get some good results.

He instructs for AKS over the summer.

Charl De Villiers is his name, Aussie guy, good teacher.

He likes fish and chips + KFC also. (beers too)

Hope this helps.

watch videos of people doing basic jumps and big jumps .Slow it down frame by frame and see what they are doing with their body board and kite so that you get an understanding of what is involved and visualise it when you are doing it yourself

Progression DVD's are great - all the way from absolute noobs.

Will get you jumping/transitioning/looping and on into the world of unhooked.

Most kite shops have them in store, about $40 to $50 per DVD. A great way to progress at your stage is to have a video analysis lesson where you could get yourself filmed and get feedback as you watch yourself on video, and repeat this process a couple of times to check for improvement.
