Anyone got any ideas. Tried surfboard wax, which has helped much.

The strap is soft and has faded but has no marks. The teeth on the clasp look fine as well.

Bit of a pain when depowered and hit by a gust that causes the depower strap to slip, thereby powering the kite up.

if it's a new one take it back... if it's an old one replace it (they're only $25). either way, don't use it, it's too bloody dangerous the way it is!

worst case scenario...

I'd hate to be dead, or worse crippled, and only have a $25 piece of kit to blame... that and my own tight arse (the one that no longer has any feeling in it and dumps in my pants whenever it pleases)

... that's if no-one else is hurt in the "worser" case scenario

The newer Naish straps are a much better design too, and don't wear out as fast, plus due to the better design you can sheet back out in increments easily, unlike the old one that you have that slips to fully sheeted out as soons as you lift the plastic buckle.

Or change to a cleat and rope?

G'day,

I had a Naish depower strap slip when I used my X4 12m, so I replaced it with new one and it slipped too, then I noticed that using same bar on my X4 16m, it slipped occasionally, and only when I did a big jump or when there was massive pull on the kite. I am heavy and I think that I get more forces due to my heavy weight, and if I'm using my 12, it means it's windy (20 to 30 knots) and therefore heaps of pressure on the depower strap. I now live with it, it if slips, I pull the strap down again, I just have to live with it I surpose.

Cheers for now,

Robert.

Thanks for the replies.

The problem is that it is a UDS depower strap. Not sure if I will be able to buy one, haven't tried yet though.
