Hey Guys
Looking to maybe get a surfboard for a little different riding and not sure about sizing.
I am around 188cm and 90kgs and pretty much ride choppy bay conditions in Melb. Anywhere from 12 to 30 knots. ( i know.... not real choppy at 12 knots) But is there something that is kind of an allrounder ?
I would like something that i can still jump and rotate if possible but not sure what would suit...a shorter or a longer board .
Thinking either a WAM or Global at either 5'10" or 6'1" .
At the moment not thinking about big waves, mainly wind chop etc.
I know its not a real big decider but was wondering if there is also a size/length limit when travelling o/seas also.
Cheers

I ended up with a North Nugget because I figure most of the days where I head out its going to be the small mushy stuff you get in the bay or light wind. It's very short and fat so still a nice size for playing around with aerial stuff.
Realistically the nugget is only really going to work with smaller waves so it takes out the option of bigger waves but it has the added advantage of having a low end which only a couple of knots off the raceboards so it gives you something to have fun with on the low wind days.
You're welcome to test it if you want (it's not for sale so this is not a sales pitch)

Given your weight, I don't think there are a lot of surfboards out there that you can jump without the risk of destroying them in a few sessions. If you want to jump it you need a shorter, kite specific board around 5'6"-5'8". The Underground Kipuna is un-distroyable, but it might be on the heavier side (I haven't touched the later models, though). If you don't mind riding toe-side, a mutant may do.
For comparison, my favorite jumping surfboard is an old Naish 5'2" epoxy board (for my 70kg). It needs a bit more power, but it likes small waves and jybes well. I had the RRD fatal wave 5'9" for a while. It was a very strong board, but too big for me for jumping. Might be OK for you. North Wam is a beauty, but the North Whip might be a better one for the chops and jumps (i have one). For you a 5'6" or 5'8" perhaps. IMO the Wam is better for cleaner / medium waves. The Whip has very good upwind and jumps really well, but, again, you might need to land those jumps softly....
Unfortunately, you cannot estimate the strength of the board by demoing it. So see what others, with similar style to yours, ride.
