Just got back from Bali with Air asia, took my kiting gear.(no wind)At the air port they hit me up for $25 for sporting equipment, the same on the return leg.Apparently you can't pre pay it.Also on the plane they only take cash unlike the Virgin that only take credit cards.
they used to take credit cards on board but i gather it was too much of a hassle. It's probably not a good look for cabin crew coming back and taking meals off passengers after the swipe failed...
IMO Air Asia is one the best for Bali, $25 dollars each way is a good deal and for that you can take a couple of surfboards (or a surfboard and tt) and a few kites, on some of the others (jetstar for example) you would get slugged heaps more.
Why Air Asia just don't let you pre-pay sports equipment on line, in advance, is beyond me?????? It just adds to the carnage at the excess baggage counter, which if you have sports equipment, you've got to take a trip to.
Not only to Bali... All Air Asia flights are the same! Good thing is that in the sport equipment bag you can put up to 20 kilos so you don't need to buy any extra Pre Pay luggage allowance if you travel light! NO wind!!! Yesterday and before yesterday we had some of the best wind this year! blowing up to 20 knots! Bye Jankie
