No, i dont think you can well not at the main beach, but there is a lot of good spots around that area.

Conway Beach, Bowen, Midge point, Mackay.
Nothing really at Airlie Beach itself.

Mackay and Bowen are the go, always windy in blowen Bowen. Alva beach is a sic spot if you make it up to Bowen
