Anyone tried this board? Is it any good or is it just a thruster with no nose? I would love to get my hands on a second hand / ex demo one if they are any good, looks like a fun ride...

They havent arrived yet in oZ - they are in tomorrow
Mike Bergmann was riding one (the proto) alot last summer and getting tons of bottom end and loose surfability in small waves.

Also good for strapless wake skate cross over style.

for dedicated wave slayery - complete with massive spray-go the Converse 6'0 or 6'4

The choptop is quite a unique board . It has a hollowed out deck that gives it quite a different feel . It is aimed at skate style moves on the waves and in the air .

The concave deck gives you an easy to grab rail and gives you a better conection with the board ,the edge seems to help your feet stay on the board better , especially with no grab arials.

The board has a flatter rocker than most surfboards so has good bottom end , it also has a lot of area in the tail so it will break out easily and can be pushed and slid around for shovits ect.

It will also give better pop off flat water for the skate style stuff and the shorter length and reduced volume makes it a lot easier to deal with in the air .

For me this board has made lightwind no wave days fun again .

It is fun to use in waves and will deal with small to med faces but not as well as a surfboard although in lightwinds it is my first choice.

If you like skateboarding you will love this board .
