Hi All,
I'm keen to get into waves and just wondered if anyone knew if there was much difference in performace between the Airush Converse 6'0' or 6'2 ??? Would I really notice the difference (I am very average in ability) between the 6 foot and the 6,2 ?? Thinking I might just go the 6,2 coz its closer to what I would ride when surfing and I can use it as a surfboard also, but any advice from anyone would be really appreciated. Cheers !

If the 6'2 is what you could use to surf on aswell, I would go that for sure. I ride the 6'0, and surf it aswell.

Get the 6'2" !

No point in lugging an extra board around if you can surf your kiteboard!
You will appreciate the extra 2 inches on the light wind days too.

how tall are you and how much do you weigh? cause if your riding an extra 2" i think it counts when you on a small summer wave, it's more board to fit that arc?????????
if you can surf the 6 0 go for it, both boards are the same width and probably thickness.
good luck and don't bother with those straps

There is a lot more difference than just 2" between the boards .
I have ridden both boards a lot .

From what you have said I would recomend the 6'2" , it is an easier board to ride and has got better bottom end . Despite that it is a very capable board . I have used this board in some decent waves up at Gnaraloo and in the steep sucky waves at Scarbs and it was very comfortable to use at all times . The 6'0" is a high performance board that will give you more drive and tighter turns but will also let you know when you make a mistake .

The biggest advantage of the 6'2" is its wide range , bottom end but still behaves powered up . This board is based on a Perth pro surfer's favourite board for small/med waves so you should enjoy it for that as well .

Hi Marno,

I also kitesurf the 6'0" and 6'2". The 6'2" is the one to paddle surf. The 6'0" is a bit small. There is a big difference between the two boards. The 6' is awesome in bigger waves and more powered conditions and is definately a super fun ride but as Mikey says, a little more challenging.

The 6'2" is good for waves up to about 4-5 foot (hawaiian) and lighter winds. I have ridden it in 30 knots and head high but it is too much board for the spoeed you ride at in those conditions, but then again you could be well powered on a twinny.

The 6'2" definately surfs well and gets going even in smaller waves (2 foot) as long as they have decent shape.

As a combo board, definately go the 6'2" as it paddles better than the 6' and still rocks in the waves under a kite.

Hope this helps,

Hi Caution,

I rode one of the early prototypes of the Choptop and it was .... shall we say.... "interesting"

My honest opinion was that it was a bit bouncy at Scarborough in the chop with any real speed, and it seemed to have about the same bottom end of the 6'2" Converse with a little less control.

I think it would be fun in the right conditions, but I'm going to stick with the 6'2" without straps, more versatile!

I know Mike has been riding it a bit and says he's enjoying the challenge. I'm sure he will post a review of it's performance with more knowledge and personal experience than me. I only rode it for a very short session. Perhaps the production model is better. Another ride might be in order.

Good winds,

Ive ridden the Chop top a few times and dig it. Ive only ridden in strapless in light winds. I think this is when its at its best for a few more tricks. You dont have to worry about landing on nose when you messed up an ollie or back roll. I dont think its designed for down the line wave sailing, more mucking about in the junky stuff.

No, I cant.

I think Will can land them. He might have some hints. I think its simply that you hve to try about 10,000 of them before you work it out.

Only because you asked for it .

The choptop is a cross between a surfboard and a skimboard .
It is aimed at skatestyle riding and makes small sloppy surf a whole lot of fun .

It won't ride a wave like a good surfboard but it will give you some drive off slop like a big fish will and it is very loose and skatey in the tail ,so lots of fun to do big hacks on bits of slop that section up .

It is also nice and compact so you can do shovits and kickflips (I can't)like Mark Shinn does in his new vid .

It is surprisingly easy to ride strapless (I only ride my surfboard with straps because I find it too hard without them )and managed to do small jumps (strapless) and have almost landed a few backrolls after only a few sessions on it .

The big difference seems to be the hollowed out deck .

The best thing about this board is that I am stoked to go out on small sloppy lightwind days again .
