Hi Guys

I've been kiteing for a long time and fly C kites. My wife is learning and being only 50kg they just have to much grunt for her.

Was wondering if I could get some good feed back on what the new 2009 Airush DNA kites what are like for someone who wants to progress and be comfortable on the water. I've read some good things but wanted peoples opinions

Your honest feed back would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Specimen,

The Airush DNA is a good kite for beginners. We use them in our school, among others.

The relaunch is easy, they are very grunty, and are very stable. Not super upwind friendly but good enough for beginners. If your wife is very petite she may have issues with the trim cleat on the chicken loop and will probably have difficulty reaching the bar when released as the depower line is VERY long.

Good kite in all other respects. Another kite to consider is the 2008 7m Ozone Light II, or even the 5m light II. They are now available as ex-demo.

You are welcome to come and visit us and demo both the DNA and Light II.

Good winds,

I am not a retailer to advertise my products, I'm just a user.

For a beginner there are only two things important:
1) Safety release: All famous 2009 kites are almost in the same level of safety.
2) Water relaunch: Kite shouldn't travel to the edge of the window to relaunch and it should turn around in any position when you pulling a line.

I heard that Slingshot Rev2 is super easy to relaunch
I have a 2009 Naish Cult and because of "Direct Respond" technology you will be able to relaunch the kite in no time.

P.S. there might be some other brands of kites which have this option too that I don't know off

;)

Don't know much about these new kites but would love to know how you got your wife to get into kiting.

very very user friendly.

a little slow turning and through the air.

good bar feedback.

I don't think they could produce an easier kite, perfect kite if your not interested in getting that 2 extra feet of height or .3 seconds hang time.

the DNA was the first of the delta shaped kites. There is a reason a lot of the other brands have followed. Super Stable!

The thing that you want most is easy light wind relaunch from my experience so make sure that your new baby has that.

Hi

I have been kiting for 8 years and the DNA is the kite I use . It is super stable and has a very direct feel , so is easy to use . Relaunch is as easy as it gets and it will relaunch from anywhere in the window . As Darren said the depower is long on it but you can set that to arms length with a stopper from Airush .
I use mine for wave riding and haven't found a kite better suited for me , try one you might like it as well .

Cheers
Mike
