Cant wait, going to aituatki in august!! im so excited, 4 good friends and a massive sandy lagoon. August is the dryest month and the windist month.
Stayin in tradional bunglow called inanobeach, right on beach and 100m to kiting beach.
This place is windy 80% of the year and they even get all their electricy from the wind!!

Sorry but i had to share my excitment. Went to rarotonga couple years ago and it never stoppped blowing but we never flew the extra 40mins to aitutaki.

On rarotonga the only place to kite is Muri Lagoon, its mostly sandy bottom but some reefy spots.
Their Wet season is our summer and dry season with tradewinds is our winter.
Hopefully you will get lucky.
Hire a scooter and you can go around the whole island of raro in about 40mins.
We stayed at the Sunrise beach bungalows near muri, was nice and clean and pretty cheap.

Flight prices don't seem all that bad, given its location.(specials in August with virgin)

Why do you say it is 100m from kite beach?
Do you know someone who has been there?
They do say they are on the sheltered side of the island.

What direction are the trades?

Trades blow South East, so yeah, I'm wondering too about Inano bungalow's location. Anyone that's been there?
