Hi guy's,

Due to everyone saying NO BOARD LEASH these look like second best option in my opinion http://www.oceanrodeo.com/gojoe.php Maybe not all the time, perhaps just those real rough days. Or for us beginners that are to busy keeping the kite in the right place to go up wind instead of looking where the board is.

Anyhow, if it saves one more person from posting in the lost and found it was worth passing on I guess.

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves today and hope for the same tomorrow.

Hi Blaster.

Your link doesn't work mate. Any chance you can re-post. I'd be interested in a safer alternative to a leash...

Hey Dazz, just google gojoe... or look on ebay under kitesurfing. Theres 2 on there with all the links.

Sorry mate at work and pretty flat out, not mention my internet access is restricted to a few sites. I told them I need seabreeze for weather forecasts, they fell for it.[}:)]

A local bought one, used it a few times then ditched it, and it broke at one end as well.
He said it was awkward to use, made it harder to water start and if you did part company with the board you still had to body drag back to it.
So in places like the river mouth in the Bay here, you could still lose your board.

He gave it to us, we use is as a punching/hitting bag when something gives us the Sh1ts, we just say back in a minute going to knock the cr@p out of Joe.
Its very therapeutic, seriously.

And its definitely a weird gizmo, very us martketing!

Um, like I was saying in original post. Best for beginners or other situations where a board could very likely be lost. $30 solution rather than lose a $500-$1000 board you only rode for 30mins.

It maybe awkward, but as you have stated very useful. It serves as a multi purpose device you can use on the water at home or in the office. Revolution of anger therapy managment.

Seems like quite a good idea. And I can't see why it wouldn't work in theory. I'm definitely tempted. Has anyone tried one? Does it work - any good / bad feedback?

Hi Blaster

Sorry mate but this will never fly! If you needed this contraption to kite I think your better off taling up golf.

I know this was not for yourself, but leashes in my option are not necesary.I think it would be easier to learn body draggind upwind rather than copping the flack of having that thing hanging off ya stick.
2 thumbs down form my point of view.

BTW, post didn't really require replies. It was more intend to highlight other options on the market for those interested. Maybe a cheers at the most.

I personally don't use any device, reason being where I stack it I can always walk to my board in thigh deep water. Others maybe don't have that environment for learning in and are faced with the board issue.

Anyhow Darryl, good luck.

Also don't worry about people taking the piss, the other day I saw a couple guys wearing board shorts over their wetties WTF

Spend more time learning kite control and body bragging and if a leash is required then reel leashes seem to be the go.

accidents with leashes range from snapped achilles tendons(leash wrapping around the leg) and paralysis thanks to the board hitting the back of the neck(a helmet cannot protect your spine or neck).

gojoe looks to be a step in the right direction, but suspect it needs to be fine tuned a little to work properly.

Gojoe just needs a good beating with a stick every now and then, thats all that dumb looker is worth.

Use a Reel Leash or none at all ASAP.

Dude just go to kmart and buy a floatie and stick it to your board. FFS what a stupid crock of shyte. Leashes are gay, I was with a mate who got knocked in the back of his head from a leash only a couple of months ago, 10 stitches later he refuses to ever use one again.

Just learn to body drag upwind it aint hard. Ive been launched and dragged close to 100m upwind of my board and right out at sea. Didnt take long to get back there. If your stuck in a river mouth use the current to go upwind. Honestly though dont attach a floatie to your board it will be embarrassment to the entire kitesurfing community.

lol.
Errr....

User,
What has the above link regarding 'best time for maui' got to do with this topic ?

We're talking about Go Joe.
A stupid, target-like, floatie, waterwing-thing that's stuck to your board.
Screwed-on to the board where the grab handle was/is.

So Go Joe is just a big, inflateable grab handle.
A silly invention.
lol.

Beat the stuffing out of it when you can't relaunch the kite in pus wind.
