Wasnt today a classic, beaudiful, chocky-box Perth winters day
Birds a twittering overhead
Sun shining warmly down from an azure blue sky
Not even a hint of cloud darkening the horizon
And not a breath of wind to disturb the serenity
("Mmmm! hows the serenity ?")

Gawd Damn I need some wind ... NOW
Been away and not kiting way too long.

Actually its gotta be another great plus for kiting really.
Consolation is if you cant kite chances are you can be enjoying an otherwise top-weather day, like today, doing something completely different.
Perhaps we should all add golf to our quiver of 'other interests'

Golf??? YAWN....I'd rather stick my head down the dunny....

It was perfect for improving the board skills behind the boat. A bit cool, but still OK.

Golf is for when your body is too busted to hold the bar any more.

I know this is hardly a secret.

Tradewinds in North Queensland are still going off.

Strong wind warning for the whole QLD coast by tomorrow, and buoyweather.com has it 20-30knots right through to the end of the week.

IMHO, the wind at Magnetic Island has been <15knots on only about 4 occassions since the start of April, each one less than a week. Plenty of days of 18-22knots.

And when the tide is too low to kite over the reef flat, there is a nice little 2-3foot RH wave in a beautiful cove not far from where I live.

You guys should come and check it out. Thaw out. Relax. And get some time in the water. If the wind is nonexistent then snorkel or dive on the coral reef. Win -win situation. Outer reef charters a 3-hour boat trip away. Even better.

With all the development pressures along this coast, we need as many "wind and wave powered" visitors as we can get, to keep the jet ski's and condo dwellers at bay.

Puppet - Tell me about it- Sounds exactly like Wello on Sunday - Nothing like predicted winds being 15-20 in the morning easing to 10-15 in the arvo, and not even 5-6 knots the whole day and I was there from 11-4pm...! Perfect day though ... Just no wind

The week ahead looks great however...

It does look good, let us know how it goes in SEQ. See what I meant about NQ though, all the guys starting to skyte from there? Wish I was there now. Hey Laurie any plans to put NQ on your maps? Not that it will benefit me in Johannesburg, but it's a pretty major spot. Maybe one day I'll even be back in Australia and living in Perth in the Summer, Cairns in the Dry. Ahh, would be the perfect life. When I'm king of the world...

Greenpat, I really wish this was the case. It has been one wet year with very little wind on the local beaches. Today was again, predicted 20 to 25 knots only to get a gusty 10kts at the beach. Gale warning tomorrow with rain. We seem to only get one maybe two days of wind with each of the high's coming through and has been gusty slightly offshore, when we would normally be getting 4 to 5 days this time of year with the trades.

Have a look at today's graph for Cairns compared to Green Island on the reef.

I am getting good at sitting on the beach waiting though.

Boy everyone is getting it.

Perth magic all day today on Northerly. Only very few riders out in Metro WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA , had it all to ourselves...everyone else working or bad timing.

Oh Poor Reli, I really feel for you. I will later email you, but figure this will get to you sooner as you have it embedded you your brain. Man, you will get these day too....61% chance of wind tomorrow. And only a few more weeks and the Summer starts up north in Lurch's part of WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Greenpat - the obs for TNQ are already on Seabreeze. www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/qld2.asp Green Island is nearly always green arrows every day, but a tricky place to get to and a technical launch.
The Cairns Aiport obs can reflect what's going on at Yorkeys Knob but there are plenty of condtitions when they vary immensly. I set up my own system which is great to know what's going on at my home beach which is 6k from Yorkeys.
I've put an anemometer right on the sand on the beachfront with a solar powered transmitter which feeds the current windspeed back to an LCD gauge sitting front of a webcam that is on 24/7.
Great to check from work in town and get out there for an "important meeting" when I know its on.
Unfortunately the webcam is inside my house, and there is always a chance you will see more than the windspeed so I only give the address out to fellow locals and pay per view porn portals.

Hey Baron von Box, you bist so sehr resourcefull. Do you live in a little castle over there?

I am very jealous of your wind conditions at the moment. "Aber, weiss du, bei uns" , as some say....... it was very nice also.....aber every day steady 25-30 knots! Too good to be true...I'm jealous naw not really.....today was great here also.

Looks like I had a dumb and stupider day all round today, may as well go to the pub then, it can't get any worse.

Still, there's always a windier beach... somewhere (to the tune of "A River Somewhere"). When I was living in Townsville and we were having a lull it seemed Cairns had wind every day. Except last year's 'It's Extreme' Kite week....
