As a sponsored breast rider, I can not not begin to tell you who much fun these kites are to pump up and fly......but you can't get your DAM HANDS of THEM. At least the Cab. site has demo days scheduled.............we in Kanga Land haven't got a clue to what's really going on....or do we?

Just read the press release from BEST ( have the rest of you lot actually READ it, or is there too much there for you?). Nice of them to let us know what they are working on, I guess.

It looks like the Nemesis 2006 is what the Hellfish should or would have been. However, the only reason I can see for releasing this information is to take interest away from the new "crossbow" style kites coming to market. Still, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, it would be great to know what Naish, Cabrinha, Slingshot etc, have in their R&D centres. After reading Bruno Legaignoux's U.S. patent, it would seem to me that this kite will not infringe, as it does not have a bridle or pully system, or so BEST hopes.

Interesting that they admit that the Hellfish was "rushed" to market, although they don't make any mention of misleading delivery times, the look of the kite etc.

Roll on BEST, but please don't fill up the forums with junk about how crap the kites are from other brands because you "may" have a kite that we might see "someday". Learn from the Hellfish mistakes of telling us a prototype that is barley finished will change the world.


Oh yeah, I ride a Nemesis '04, but I'll be buying a Crossbow.....

This thread wouldn't have been junk if it weren't for timmy boys slander.

The points I have learnt from this thread.

  • Best have some interesting design ideas, that will hopefully come to market, and they are brave enough to disclose them (which NO other kite co will do.)

  • Any comments made by TimotheyLeary need to be taken with a grain of salt, as he is obviously biassed and uninformed, yet determined to sling sh!t on best.

  • Best should be happy to have Brownee on board, in the light of timothys attacks his comments have remained nothing but factual and professional.

I was determined not to buy into this Best Hellfish thread, not being the best or most experienced kiter.

But this New Bestest ever best Kite without a bladder is making Best look like a bunch of bumbling idiots who are back pedalling so hard they are gonna fall off their bike.

Hard to take them seriously when they are talking up the Bestest Best even before anyone has got hold of the much hyped Hellfish.

At least we can see why they called it the 'Hellfish'.

Would hate to be a part of Best's marketing department, they must have HUGE headahces.

I am amazed at the amount of posts there are ridiculing the Best drawing of a kite that they are trying to pass off as a new model.

I don't have a problem with the CAD drawing of the BEST nemesis.
To build anything, you need a plan, the direction, somewhere to begin.

I don't have a problem with hype either.
It seems to be the modern method of marketing.

But hey, atleast build the first prototype before you start shooting your big mouths off.
If you don't, you might look like jerks if the concept is a dud.

Consideing that Best is now the "largest kite manufacturer in the world" why arent we willing to trust them? In IT I trust Cisco for routing equipment because they are the biggest, why not kites?

I will NEVER buy from Cabrihna in that I bought a kite from them that had bladders that attracted ants. Within a week of buying the kite the ants ate the bladders! The company just said, " tough luck buddy" What a jip! Obviously they don't care about their customers! I don't own any best products, but my buddy crashed his kite on the beach and Best replaced it for free including shipping. Slingshot has replaced two kites I used to own and one board I snapped. Most companies I've heard of do this! NOT cabrihna!!! NEVER again.

I had a good kite today....
it made me forget about all the bull**** in my life. For those magic moments when i was airborn or carving along the face of a wave, nothing really mattered exept the fact that the sun was shinning and i was alive and having fun. For this reason, I think that any kite that can get me going on a board is good...
So if there is a new kite design coming out then sweet..... it might make the feeling of kitin even better for me, if not i know a kite design that already works.
Who really cares what shape a kite is?
Did good looking kites make you take up kiting?
Who do you need to impress with a good looking kite?
NO ONE will care what kite you fly or what it looks like if your boosting big or doing the latest wakestyle technical tricks, Kiters & the general public will still stop & watch.
Most people watch the rider not the kite.
Marketing hype is everywhere and in every sport. I guess kiting is still so young we are prone to lots of outrageous claims, but i think most kiters who are at or above an 'intermediate' level know whats true and false (and what works)and any other claim can only be tested by the kiters themselves.
So i say bring on the new designs, forget the marketing hype and remember why you really kite.

If the " will make all other kites obscelete" , "the best thing you will ever fly " model came out only 2 weeks ago and best have been making these supid claims for over 6 months...ie when they only had their revision 1 and 2 and even 3 prototypes kites flying. When every1 who has flown them says their sh!te and have more problems than all obscelete kites! I wonder why they try to defend loosing all credibility when they try and promote something which is a lemon!
they should have stuck with $2 kites instead of trying to figure out kite performance!

good. No kiting for ages it feels like. I just got two new kites finally and now there's too much wind to use them, 50 kts!

50kts... NSW this arvo not quite 50 yet, but forecast is 40-50 , tending 55 offshore in the morning, and easing in the evening

got f-one M5's, 10 and 12 meter. Im not getting another white kite again, it's allready got dirt on it!!

is your shop on the road to Geelong from Melb Steve? i think i drove past it yesterday on the way to *torquie? unsure of spelling

Yeah the shop is on the main rd through Geelong on the way to Torquay and the Great Ocean Road.
Its gusting to 45knots at the moment in Sans Souci/Kurnell/Sydney Airport, lulls to about half that! One of those days where you just stay away from large kites!!
10 and 12? Why so close together?
And I agree with you on white its a magnet, I prefer darker colours in everything except cars.
How long are you in Vic for?

i was there last week, allready back in sydeny area, the 10 meter is real high aspect, and rated to 30 kts with fifth line, the 12 is around lower end 12/13 -22/23 kts comfortably, and i have an 8 that's 18+ to 35ish, people have used it to 40 and been ok. im sharing my quiver aswell, hence the close spaces sizes, but if i wasn't id probably go those three anyway for med - strong winds, and a 16 for light
