This is what confronted me on the home page when I logged on tonight at 8.20pm. I'm presuming these figures are averages right

Windiest places:

From looks of the forecast Perth will be on the windless for the next week

If you look you will find Tassie has only been on the list of places since this earlier week after I hassled Laurie about it a while back(actually it was as soon as I moved to Tassie)and its already reigning supreme on the charts.

A big thanks Laurie

although everyone is probably going to see just how good the wind and surf is down here and I might have to share my beach with someone else...(shudder to think)

You don't need to kite at night here (we are always in the dark?) as it's pretty consistently damn windy as the graphs will now show and the swell comes straight past the bottom of cape town all the way from South America. Mind you I suspect the wind is blowing straight off the antarctic as well they way if feels

At what point does it become impossible to kite down there (temperature wise?)

I imagine you guys are rugged up pretty hard in steamers, dry suits etc, is there a point each year where you just have to stop because everything is frozen?

you should also post the water temps next to the winds, then tassy spots will be safe for sure.

Hell you don't get wet. Have you seen the size of the sharks down here. They grow bigger in cold weather.

Nah we all ride those hydro foil thingies and hover above the water.

Nobody gets wet around here

Issued at 5:40 am on Thursday 31 May 2007

Synoptic Situation:
A low is passing to the south of Tasmania, with a cold front crossing the state,clearing the northeast around midday.

North to northwest winds strong enough to bring down some tree branches and power lines are expected over Tasmania this morning. The maximum windspeed is expected to be 110km/h.
Recent events:
Wind gusts of 89 to 93 km/hr have been recorded at Wynyard, Devonport, Low Head
and Eddystone Point, with stronger gusts about exposed mountain tops.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should secure loose outside
items.
