Hi FD,

Sanur is notoriously very light. I'd take a 20 and a 16 if I were you. It is also a bit dodgey when the tide is out, so take booties otherwise you will have nasty looking feet.

There are other areas to kite in Bali like Ku De Ta of an afternoon, and Chang Gu early arvie. For them you will need only a 20m or 16m.

I rode Chang Gu on a 12m with a 20 inch wide 6'6" surfboard. Bali hai is windier but at the very end of Bali and getting there is a real mission. Don't even attempt it on a motor bike, you'll be killed by the trucks.

Good luck and good winds, you'll need it,

I agree. I was there in September, and it was light wind at best... unless you hire a boat to go out deep.

Nusa Dua does have wind from Time to Time... but the kite movies are shot on other islands (mostly)

Note that if you do take a big kite, the huge surf and big kites do not always go so well together...

Bali's winds usually 10-15kts so take your biggest kite or a surfboard to ride. Sanur has the flat water and Changu has the waves. Nelly is one funny local:) that kid is too cool for school esp in da niteclubs. jam jars rock! If u got the time or money i would suggest getting on a boat for a few days and going to the islands to the East where its about 10 knots windier. awabmus av a good trip.

I was there last September, Nothing doing at Legian/kuta went to Sanur and light winds but kitable on 12m. Usually about 2 - 3 hrs in afternoon.
10-12knots
No jumping in this wind, but you won't jump there anyway because of the sea urchins which I scored in my calf while getting body dragged after a crash.
BEWARE water at Sanur is shallow, (deadpan flat) READ seaurchins can be just below surface and will puncture your kite and you. Neither is much fun as I found out.
Virtually no spares available in Bali. I broke my pump and couldnt get a replacement. Praise superglue at $1 per tube.
