I am looking to print an image onto a kite. The image has way to many colors for a silkscreen proccess. I have not been able to find any companies that will do this. I am also looking to make just one. It is for a present.

I am also curiouse in the style of kite I should select. I was thinking something that could be staked and would pretty much fly itself so that it could just be displayed for fun. So I was thinking of a standard diamond. The person I am getting this for is into stunt flying so I would not mind a stunt kite either, but am afraid the image process would interfer with the kite dynamics.

Thanks

HI There,

There a few ways to print onto a fabric. Unfortunately kite material is affected by heat(NYLON/synthentics) so there are minimal ways to do this considering that you have many colours involved.

A one off print will always cost you money. Your budget for this project may be important when doing this. Options are:

1. Vinyl cutouts (heavy and limited colour ways)
2. Laser print out colours no prob Heat a problem to set the print big size also will cost
3. screen printing. heat no prob pending ink you use cost maybe re: colourways?

I would test the base fabric and ask around with what kind of options you have with this.

Re think your design maybe do a one colour or 2 colour to avoid massive costs. Good luck and PM me if you wish further info.

Use standard Dulux weatherguard. Paint the kite, then bake the kite in an oven at about 200C. Whatever is left of the kite should be the colour of the paint.
