SAFE seems to be good idea to depower but CO2 is another good choice. Which should i grab?

Can't speak about WW we don't sell them.
Cabrinha CO2, 2006 is an excellent kite, with a top quality 5 line bar and punch out safety system, so you can launch hooked in with confidence.
Sizes are 10,12,14 and 17M
You could probably arrange a demo from our Geelong store, if you wanted to?
How much do you weigh?
Will this be your first kite?

Ride a 15m WW rapture good safe(near 100% depower) with no need for extra lines that get in the way. Stable huge range, I believe the rapture 2 is even better.

new windwing flat kites seem to have very nice range - and the guys on them seem to get some serious airtime. If your in the melb area come to kite beach as there are always a few up on a good arvo.

i currently ride Boxer 12m but sometime it's overpower because i m 63kg . if i switched to 10m, then it wouldn't enough power to go. so i m considering kite that can give me a good depower.

Was out this arvo in 28 knts on a 12m WindWing Rapture.

12 Guys started the session, only two of us remained out. Both of us on WindWings.

CC Bar provides the best benefits of the depower with the Rapture series kites.

From what I have read, the kite(s) sound well thought out, but the bar setup looks a bit "fussy". Any problems with sand getting into those pulley's, bits, etc.? I'll actually have chance to visit the Windwing flagship store in Hood River, Oregon next week. Looking forward to having a snoop around. Kites appear to be quite popular outside of Australia (check out kiteforum.com threads Ming).

have a look at the 2006 bars - the earlier models from what i have heard had a safety release niggle where it would sometimes stick/catch on release (however easly modded to prevent this happening). 2006 seems to have these problems fixed - nice protection from sand so this isnt a problem

I always dip my CC Bar and leaders in the water just before zooming off.

It lubricates the lines and ensures there is no sand caught anywhere.

CL Lines last much longer if you do this.

gabor is the melbourne windwing man - you can tee it up with him to get a trial of any of the gear/boards you are interested in so you should try before you buy.
Best bet is to call him - or drop in on a sat/sun at bout 1pm

I've been riding a Windwing Rage2 14 and 10 with SAFE for the best part of a season now. The kites are great and SAFE is great when it works. The 2005 CC bar is problematic (I use one). I had problems with the top pulley (bearings seized up and munched my CL) and also had problems with the safety randomly working its way loose. With a fair bit of stuffing around I fixed the problems. If I applied Fitzy's level of care things may have been different but there are alot of guys who experienced the same problems (particularly the top pulley failing). Apparently they have been worked out on the 2006 bar and they have replaced the top pulley with a different make. When the kite's SAFE bridle wears out I am going to dump the SAFE system on my Rages (like most of the guys in the Gorge). Can't talk to the Rapture 2006 though - heard great things but I'm going to wait a season this time.

I graduated from WW SAFE equipped Rage II kites, to Rapture 1s, now I have all 4 sizes of the Rapture 2s, and have about 25 days on the collective sizes, most on the 9 and 12. I'm in Baja, and it's been windy almost every day for 3 weeks. Anyway, the SAFE system on the Rage II does work, it was a good idea at the time, but it does require tuning and maintenance to keep it working properly. The Rap 1s eliminated the need for the moving parts to get near full de-power, but they did not relaunch as easily as the Rage II in board-off situations. Now flying the Rapture 2s, and it is the best of all worlds. Incredible range, easy relaunch, near-full de-power. I had the 9m out in 35kt gusts yesterday, no problem with control, and I am NOT a really good or experienced kiter. Normally just a weekend punter like most of us.
The hardest thing about flying a WW is actually getting your hands on one -- limited production currently. Gabor is the man in Australia.
Caveat: I am slightly biased as I used to work for WW, but I do not work for them currently -- I just love the kites. Someone emailed me to comment on this thread, so I am doing so by request.
Good winds to you down there!
