This is my first season kitsurfing and have come to the sport from a kiting background. I've been flying a Peter Lynn kite for several years, and so i have jumped into the sport buying a Peter Lynn Venom 13.

It's become pretty obvious that most of the kiters in Perth are flying inflatables & despite a few smartarsed comments about flying a mattress (haha), I'm pretty happy with the way that the Venom performs. That said & done, I am keen to meet/fly with other arc users & am hoping that anyone who is interested in getting together also, gets in touch either via email @ [email protected] or via mobile 0419 932 204. i'm a complete newbie so PLEASE don't expect me to have the answers - I'm just hoping to learn with other arc users.

anyway, i hope to hear from any other arc users soon.

Juddy.....were you at Leighton today flying the blue and yellow Venom?

Anyhow, to the arc user I saw at Leighton today while drivng home... note that standing on the beach near the club house is not really on. Riding South of the doggie bridge is out of bounds this time of year. Please view WAKSA web site to find local rules.

Juddy....GLS on this forum also has an arc and he knows the local rules.

Gruezi,

thanks for the pointer. I've picked up a few rules (i.e nothing south of the footbridge) over the past couple of months, but no, it wasn't me out at Leighton y'day...my Venom is purple & white...almost the colours of the mighty Freo Dockers...

Neil Taylor knows most of the crew with arcs,he may be able to hook you up with someone near your local spot. You can ring him between 10-5 at his shop.

don't kid yourself Juddy; it's all envy, I'd have a Venom if the tag wasn't so high

as for Bendigo... there's a few kiters there (not me though; I ran off to the bay) and a number of lakes that have most wind directions covered... when there's any bl00dy water in 'em that is Conditions are almost always gusty so a good kite that can handle those sort of conditions is a must, something like an Arc perhaps.

Azza wears opened toed army boots to bed, when he lies on his mattress that is.

And didn't I see Azza offer a guy with an arc a pump.

Greens lake is near full, and the southerlies are kickn in.

Now comes the Bendigo brain braker. 120k round trip to greens lake, 440k round trip to Torquay, or 700k round trip to Sandy Point.

And Rus still is umming and arring about selling his 3 Arcs.

I had a ride of a 19m venom at sandy point on my strapless 220 stonker cruisy but when you pull the bar to turn, waiting waiting waiting, Every now and then I get reminded of why I detest big kites.

Oh and Azza next Sandy Point week is last week of Feb. in same house as last Feb. and Grants comin again. How many Hols has you clocked up on the new job.

Tony!

Army boots?!? be buggered! You know damn well that I sleep naked!

hmmm... 25 mins to Hampton.... 25 mins to Brighton, and that's all from work What a way to wait for the traffic to wain away becuse of the bridge works on the WestGate... normaly 40 mins to Altona, when the bridge is open, 60+ for now. Ahhhhgggg.

I might be looking for a break about Feb; some flat water would be nice for a change.

Hey Fingers! I haven't seen you since you were trying our your Venom at Point Walter last season. You switch kites all the time so are you still flying a Venom? I bought one off Neil just before Christmas but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

And where are you other arc users? Come on - hands up. Juddy wants to know where we each kite.
My local is Pelican Point, interspersed with Leighton & Pinnaroo.

(I don't think anyone is reading the forum at the moment). Come on guy's - season has started! I know at least half of you - Hand's up.

Juddy and other Arc flyers.

I also have just acquired a PL Guerrilla (thanks Fingers!) I am a complete Arc virgin, having ridden LEI's for four years! Woodies West/North beach is my normal haunt. So if you see a Yellow/Grey 10m and a bloke scratching his head in confusion ..???? Please come and say Gday, would love to ask you lots of questions.

Dan.

Yeah there's been a lot written on the yahoo arcuser forum lately about the SFS(shorten front strap) mod. Its the easiest and most effective mod I've seen to increase bottom end especially when flying on the window.

For a V13 shorten the front strap by 10cm, the strap right up against the leading edge. You can access the strap through the zips on the middle and outer cells so best to spread the 10cm across all three.

The V2 which has just come out apparently has the mod built in with buckles on the front and rear straps at the centre and wing tips and the front strap isn't sown into each cell so the tightening spreads across several cells.

Email me if you want anymore info as I've saved some diagrams etc from the arcuser group.

PS Juddy I fly at Brighton and North Scarb so feel free to say gday if your down that way.
