Seeing as I need to replace my 9mm inflation valve anyway, do you think a larger bore valve is easier to use? Any recommendations?

I think so. You need to make sure that your leading edge can accept the new valve as well. They are a tight fit around the valve stem to stop the valve moving/coming out of the leading edge and moving around inside.

I swapped the inflate valve on my Peter Lynn kite for an Ozone inflate/deflate. I wanted Cabrinha but they only had an Ozone one in the shop but are about the same other than needing an adapter. With the Cabrinha one you don't use an adapter as it fits directly to the pump hose.

It ended up with a Ozone inflate/deflate and the original 9mm(?) deflate valve. I used the Ozone one for inflate only and the original deflate. I think this is a better setup than unscrewing the Ozone or Cabrinha types, i.e. inflate with the big valve and never unscrew it and deflate with the other valve.

If you do something similar, see one of the kite repairers if one is handy as they will do a better job, at least better than I did.

Define how "fun" would related to this situation...

Yes, core valve inflates crazy fast, it would be laughable to use an electric pump on these unless you're over 80 and trying to maximise energy for the session ahead.

The abrupt burst of air when you pull the plug on an old North tends to surprise some dog owners at my local
